The Origami Project is a complex of seven houses located in District 6 of Prague, Czech Republic, which transcends the concept of individual construction. It was designed by Qarta Architektura. Formally known as a set of flats, it looks more like an ordinary house.
Each block has a maximum of two apartments, each with its own garden and entrance. If the client wishes, it is possible to combine the two modules into a single home, thus the total area can reach 330 m². The common areas, such as hallways, garage, and cellar, are connected from the inside and closed from the outside. It is like combining the advantages of living alone with those of living with a family.
The apartments are accessed from the common basement corridor. The flats have an area of 120 m² and are on two or three floors. The living room and kitchen are on the ground floor, while the bedrooms are on the upper floor. All the rooms open onto the gardens. The windows on each floor are designed to provide privacy and sunlight.
