Located in Alphaville, a gated community in Barueri (SP), this The two-story house already existed on a 1,375m² plot of land when the owner decided to commission a general renovation project from architect David Bastos , owner of the DB Arquitetos office. David says that the client, a 50-year-old businessman, asked for a spacious master suite and an impressive swimming pool , visible from any part of the house and equipped with a hot tub and a heating system powered by solar panels.

The pool’s organic shape is due to the existence of a mound of earth on the land, which could not be removed because it was connected to neighboring land. The solution was to use this volume and delimit one side of the pool with a retaining wall covered in soft stone and vegetation. “Note that part of this wall is submerged in the pool, resembling a natural lake ,” says David.

To make the renovation project viable and implement the new layout of the house, which now has a built area of 770 , the structure that houses the staircase, elevator and main slabs were maintained. In addition, the architect designed a large suspended masonry box, finished in burnt cement and supported by soft stone walls on the main façade and small pillars on the rear façades.

The master suite is one of the most iconic spaces in the house. With the renovation, the space now has a total area of 150m² 70m² of bedroom, 50m² of closet and 30m² of bathroom.

Another very spacious room is the office , which has a floor-to-ceiling sliding door, which separates the work area from the living area.

David says that, in order to guarantee maximum privacy , the house is completely facing the leisure area , where the pool is located. Another strategy was to insert sliding panels made of hollow wooden slats, which function as brise-soleils , on the facade of the upper floor.

The furniture designed by Sergio Rodrigues features in several areas of the residence, such as the four Beto armchairs in the living room, the eight Oscar chairs in the dining room, the two Beg chairs in the office and the four Lúcio chairs in the master suite.

The decor follows a contemporary style, with sober colors ranging from light gray to the beige of natural stones. The green accents also bring the nature of the outdoor area into the home. Finally, the armchair in the TV room, designed by Jean Gillon , and the four stools in the gourmet space, designed by Gustavo Bittencourt , also make up the contemporary style thought out for the project.
