With an Instagrammable interior design and surrounded by references and art , Glossier , the North American makeup and skincare brand , has once again opened the doors of its exclusive store in Manhattan, New York, after the closure of a previous version of the flagship due to the Covid-19 pandemic in 2020.

Spanning approximately 300 m² , the new store located in SoHo features a vibrant , sophisticated and mature interior designed by the company’s own in-house retail team, which brings together the brand’s aesthetic with references to New York City. “It’s a blend of the brand’s history , inspiration from our city, amplifying details from our products and using materials that make our spaces uniquely brighter on a new, sophisticated level,” says Julia Muntean , retail design manager who oversaw the store’s design.

The focus on organic design – through vaulted ceilings, curves, arches and rounded furniture – brings dynamism to the flagship. The new interior features more red accents than before, as well as taupe stucco walls and white tiles . A large mosaic mural by Miotto Mosaics Art Studios , which has done similar pieces in several New York subway stations , is one of the highlights of the space. Made with tiles imported from Italy, “ You Look Good ” is printed on the mosaic and faces a mirror, perfect for a selfie!

There are seven different spaces for customers to explore, one of which is the wet room—which, according to Kendall Latham , Glossier's director of retail design, was inspired by the Met Gala bathroom.

Flanked by individual mirrors and built-in benches , this space allows visitors to actually interact with the brand's skincare products , which range from face masks to body washes. “Overall, we want customers to feel a sense of belonging when they walk into the space,” said Marie Suter , vice president and executive creative director at Glossier, who oversaw the design of the SoHo store.

“With this flagship, we really wanted to inspire a sense of ‘choose your own adventure’ by offering visitors the possibility of different experiences . For example, we know that many people are interested in discovering and testing products, which is why we created 4.5-meter-long test tables ,” he explains. With the opening of this SoHo store, Glossier now has nine flagships, including Atlanta, Washington DC, London, Los Angeles and Miami. Later in 2023, the brand will open stores in Boston and Chicago .
