Underway since 2021, and representing a “new future”, NEOM is a Saudi Arabian “city of the future” project that will consist of four regions that will receive architectural projects signed by Morphosis, Zaha Hadid, Mecanoo, Aedas and UNStudio . The grandiose proposal is being led by Mohammed bin Salman , the country's crown prince and prime minister, along with Roger Nickells , former CEO of BuroHappold.

The four regions, which will together form NEOM, are dubbed Sindalah, Trojena, Oxagon and Line . Overall, the team hopes to “reimagine urban life” by incorporating smart city technologies and bringing futuristic urban planning concepts to life. “It’s an attempt to do something that has never been done before and it’s coming at a time when the world needs new ideas and new solutions,” says the team behind the project.

The Line

The Line will be a roadless, car-free, emissions-free region that will run on 100% renewable energy and 95% of the land will be preserved for nature. People’s health and well-being will be prioritized over transportation and infrastructure, while unlike traditional cities. It will accommodate 9 million people and will be built on an area of just 34 km² . This means a reduced infrastructure footprint, creating never-before-seen efficiencies in city functions. The ideal year-round climate will ensure that residents can enjoy the surrounding nature .

Sindalah


Sindalah is described as a “ tech-forward destination where laid-back island chic meets new-age luxury.” The team is embarking on the “responsibly designed” project as an enhancement to nature , taking advantage of the location along the Sea. Red. The resort is focused on luxury tourism , with three hotels boasting a combined 750 rooms and apartments. With an 86-berth marina and 75 additional offshore buoys, the team hopes Sindalah will mark the coast as a destination for superyachts . Upon arrival, guests will have access to luxury shopping, a beach and yacht club, and a spa and wellness center.

Trojan


Trojena- city Saudi Arabia

The Trojena region is planned for the mountains of Tabuk province in Saudi Arabia. It will cover an area of almost 60 km² and will be located 50 km from the coast of the Gulf of Aqaba. Although it has not yet been built , the proposal is already underway. planned to host the 2029 Asian Winter Games . Scheduled for completion in 2026, the $500 billion desert city will include year-round skiing, a man-made freshwater lake, ultra-luxurious chalets, villas and hotels, and is expected to be home to up to 9 million residents by 2045.

Oxagon

The team plans for Oxagon to become the world's largest floating structure . The proposal is designed to jut out into the Red Sea, just south of the Suez Canal, a waterway that sees about 13 percent of trade between Asia , Europe and the east coast of the United States. Due to this strategic position , the massive port city is expected to become a hub for “ advanced and clean technologies ” while introducing housing for 90,000 residents by 2030.
