World-famous, Expo Osaka hosts projects that stand out worldwide with proposals for
innovation, technology and sustainability . Brazil already has a name (and project) that will represent the country in the next edition of the show, in 2025:
Marcio Kogan . The architect, founder of the MK27 office,
won the competition held by the Brazilian Trade and Investment Promotion Agency (ApexBrasil) to take the Brazil Pavilion to
Expo Osaka 2025. The project is led by professionals from the MK27 and Magnetoscópio offices who, in addition to Kogan, has architects Renata Furlanetto and Marcello Dantas as authors. The winning proposal will represent a
Brazilian image of sustainability, accessibility and technology .

"Universal Exhibitions are a chance to
showcase the best of our Brazilian identity , it is a way of projecting the country's image", said the president of ApexBrasil and Commissioner-General of Brazil for Expo Osaka 2025, Augusto Pestana.

Marcio Kogan's project was well received by the judging panel for addressing a
topic of great interest today: sustainability . Its access via ramps was seen by the commission as a positive aspect, as
it increases accessibility and the possibility of circulation for the general public , as well as its open front space, which will allow the cultural program to be admired and perceived from different angles.

The Osaka Expo is an architectural exhibition that brings together talent from all over the world. Universal Exhibitions are currently held every five years. The aim is
to inform, entertain and, above all, surprise the visiting public by impacting them with
relevant and current themes . Their main aim is to: biggest attraction the
national pavilions built by the participating countries. The central theme of the Osaka Expo is “
Designing Future Society for Our Lives ”, with three subthemes: “
Saving Lives ”, “
Empowering Lives ” and “
Enhancing Lives ”. ) and “
Connecting Lives ” , which geographically divide the exhibition park. The Brazilian Pavilion will be located in the “
Empowering Lives ” district. Since the Shanghai Expo 2010, ApexBrasil has been tasked by the Brazilian government with leading the country’s participation in these events.
Other winners
According to the opinion of the judging panel, presented by architect
Gabriela Bilá , the winning project is an experimental proposal, with a theme of great interest and current affairs. “Its structure raises the sustainability agenda, with great capacity to attract the public”, said Gabriela. In second place was the project submitted by architect
Thiago Manuel Bernardes , from
CASACOR , a native of Rio de Janeiro (RJ), who presented the idea of Brazil as an ecological powerhouse. Thus, the pavilion proposed to be a natural horizon of Amazon Rainforest based on the theme of agroforestry developed by the Japanese colony in Tomé-Açu, in the interior of Pará.
In third place was the project submitted by
Fábio Henrique Faria , from Curitiba (PR). Also highlighted was the project submitted by architect
Marina Rosenberg , from São Paulo (SP), and an honorable mention was given to the work signed by architect
Eder Rodrigues de Alencar , from Brasilia (DF).
