Istanbul’s Museum of Modern Art was a landmark on the Karakoy waterfront before it was temporarily relocated to make way for a new state-of-the-art complex designed by legendary architect
Renzo Piano . The Modern’s return will liven up the waterfront, housing a library, cinema, design store and a range of event spaces.
2. Grand Museum of Egypt, Giza

Located in Giza, near the pyramids and a 40-minute drive from the capital Cairo, the
Grand Museum of Egypt will become the world’s largest museum dedicated to a single civilization by November 2022. The museum’s rotating exhibition will include
50,000 artifacts , including all 5,000 pieces of King Tutankhamun’s treasure for the first time since its discovery.
3. Maison Gainsbourg, Paris

The Parisian home of the famous French singer
Serge Gainsbourg was closed to the public after his death in 1991. This year, however, it will be opened as a
museum dedicated to his life and work . The
Maison Gainsbourg was led by his daughter, the actress and singer Charlotte, and the main attraction will be Serge's famous and eccentric living room, with its piano,
art deco bar and huge collection of sculptures.
4. Art Gallery of New South Wales, Sydney

Broadway Museum , the first institution dedicated to the history of Broadway theater, includes the exhibits "The Making of a Broadway Show" and the history of music in the theater. 6. National Museum of Norway, Oslo
This year, the
Norwegian National Museum will open on the Oslo waterfront, becoming the
largest museum in the Nordic countries . The museum’s collection includes an impressive
100,000 objects , with highlights including the Norwegian Baldishol Tapestry and a variety of Flemish Golden Age landscapes. But the highlight of the new building is the 2,400-square-meter “Light Hall” – a truly stunning backdrop for the museum’s many masterpieces.
7. Hong Kong Palace Museum

Set to open in July 2022,
Hong Kong’s Palace Museum will house nine galleries filled with rare books, traditional calligraphy and imperial treasures on loan from Beijing’s Forbidden City. It’s also family-friendly: the complex will feature education rooms, daycare spaces and interactive experiences geared toward children. Keep an eye out for international collaborations, too – the first of which is an
exhibition curated by the Louvre .
8. Museum of Art and Photography, Bangalore

Set to open later this year, this new gallery in southern India will showcase entrepreneur Abhishek Poddar’s eclectic collection of art and photography. More than
18,000 of his own pieces will be on display at the
