The
Laghetto Hotels chain opened its first unit in São Paulo this month – present in seven Brazilian cities, and with
more than 20 units , the company is expanding from the South to the Southeast with two new units: one in Rio de Janeiro and another in São Paulo. The second is located in the Paraíso neighborhood, and promises to combine the gaucho tradition, Japanese customs and the cosmopolitan standard of São Paulo. The architectural project was designed by the
BG Arquitetura firm.
With a setting inspired by Japanese culture, the building underwent a
retrofit process in order to preserve its roots and history. One of the highlights of the project is the
12-story main atrium, which was completely redesigned to surprise guests. In addition to the atrium, the works of art, the panoramic glass elevator and the oriental landscaping make up an immersive
mix .
Also noteworthy is the geometric artwork by
Yutaka Toyota – which occupies almost 10 floors – and was maintained by the architects at the head of BG Arquitetura. The piece is part of a composition with new works inspired by the ancient Japanese origami. The art is also curated by BG Arquitetura.
The bar, located in the center of the space, is inviting and full of charm, with a lit shelf next to two authentic
Samurai armors from
1860. This is also where the piano bar nights will be held, cozy and intimate. The furniture selected includes the São Paulo
Breton and the Rio Grande do Sul
Salva .
Ikebanas (arrangements) by
Hélio Tanaka adorn special spaces throughout the hotel. The landscaper created a
garden in homage to Japan next to the breakfast room, which was surrounded by glass walls to allow contact with the greenery.
Still under a
Soft Opening regime, the property opened its doors with only 82 rooms out of 156.
