Photographing architecture and interior design projects requires a keen eye for the peculiarities that these images display. Attention to angles and lighting are fundamental requirements for those who wish to specialize in this area. This is because the main objective of this type of photography is to convey lines and curves in a way that is faithful to what was designed, without distortions. The photographers we present below are sought-after and respected professionals in the market and represent female talent in a sector that, for a long time, was predominantly male. Below, check out the work and meet these 6 architectural photographers who are behind the beautiful images of many projects that you see printed in magazines and posts!

City where you live? I was born and live in São Paulo. Since when have you been working with architectural and interior photography? Since 2004, when I started photographing for Casa Claudia magazine, published by Editora Abril. Why did you choose to work in this area? I studied Advertising and Publicity and, after working with studio photography, portraits and gastronomy, I worked for tourism editors. This job gave me the opportunity to visit places outside of Brazil where architecture and decoration were highly valued. With access to this content, I was able to publish articles on architecture, design and culture in magazines in the area here in Brazil and, from then on, I began to collaborate regularly for these magazines and I became increasingly passionate about this universe. City where you live? São Paulo Since when have you been working with architectural and interior photography? I have been working with architectural and interior photography for 25 years. Why did you choose to work in this area? The first reason was that when I was an assistant to a famous fashion photographer, I became disillusioned with the field. I found it to be a very ego-filled market, which bothered me a lot. The second reason was because my family is made up of architects and I have always been exposed to the subject, I have always been around it and I have enjoyed it. When I was little, one of my weekend plans was to visit construction sites.

City where you live: Florianopolis, Santa Catarina Since when have you been working with architectural and interior photography? Since 201 Why did you choose to work in this area? I've done a bit of everything: weddings, events, products. I've always had a strong affinity for architecture and interiors. I even passed the entrance exam for architecture but ended up moving to Floripa (I'm from the interior of São Paulo) to study graphic design and I've been here for 24 years. The interaction between people, spaces, uses and habits has always captivated me. My journalist partner at the company @acasaacom (Lu Moraes) was already working in this sector and, naturally, I was drawn to it and moved to interior photography. It was in this niche of photography that I found myself and recognized myself as a photographer. Instagram profile: @marianaboro

City where you live?
Since when have you been working with architectural and interior photography? I have photographed for architects in Bahia, Sergipe, Santa Catarina, São Paulo and New York. For CASACOR , I have officially photographed in Bahia, Sergipe and São Paulo. Why did you choose to work in this area? I have been exclusively photographing architecture for 6 years . It may not seem like much time, but I have a long history with photography. My father was also a photographer. He was the director and professor of photography at the School of Fine Arts at UFBA . He passed away last year, and one of his greatest joys while he was still alive was seeing me taking pictures. Here at home, photography was never an option for a career. It was as if it were a male profession, and since I was the second of 4 daughters, I ended up studying business administration. I worked in the field for a long time. In 2001, I enrolled in a technical course in interior design . I studied decoration at the time. I took 5 semesters of architecture right after that. I also did a postgraduate course in lighting. I joke that I specialized in architecture so that I could later photograph it. In 2014, a good friend of my father asked to see my photos on Facebook and suggested that I take a course with him. Since then, I haven't stopped. It's my great passion, after my children and my family. Instagram profile: @gabriela.daltro

Architectural photographers you need to know

(Luiza Schreier/CASACOR)

City where you live? Rio de Janeiro Since when have you been working with architectural and interior photography? Since 2017 Why did you choose to work in this area? An architect and urban planner graduated from FAU/UFRJ , I have been working as an architectural photographer since 2017, when, in my search for professional training and developing my vision, I found photographer Denilson Machado not only a tireless teacher but also an example and inspiration. Through this constant and daily training, I was able to develop a new perspective on photography and architecture itself. Over the past six years, I have recorded more than 500 projects executed by architects, interior designers, engineers and construction companies. The prioritization of natural light, the rigor of composition and the emphasis on details and textures define my photographic identity. Instagram profile: @luizaschreier.archphoto
