CASACOR cast), in collaboration with Plural Lab and landscaping by Daniela Ruiz, the partnership signed with the City of São Paulo, via the Subprefecture of Sé, will cover the entire revitalization of the square, in addition to its maintenance for the next three years. "Created collaboratively, the new project aims to enhance the current use of the space and was born after a public consultation that mapped the main needs highlighted by users and cycle activists who frequent the place", explains Daniel Moral, from Eureka Coworking, creator of the project. proposal.
The result will be an urban furniture project, which was born with the idea of "hacking" the existing square – that is, producing pieces that will be attached to the elements already belonging to the place, avoiding a very large civil works – in addition to creating an interactive public art. . Changes will be visible throughout the current structure. The wall of the central flowerbed, where people used to sit, will have a circular bench. The guardrails, currently used to support bicycles, will serve as bicycle racks. Water fountain, Wi-Fi, sockets , tools and a pump to inflate bicycle tires, as well as new lighting, will also be part of the project.
"The vegetable garden, a fundamental feature of the square today, will be revitalized and treated as the heart of the project. The green space, which is currently located in the central flowerbed, will be expanded to the two large openings that reveal the tunnel, where flower boxes will be attached to the guardrails. existing bodies", details architect Guto Requena, who signed the project in collaboration with Plural LAB and has landscaping by Daniela Ruiz. The new vegetable garden will be cultivated with PANCs (non-conventional edible plants). The flower beds will be composed of plants that attract pollinating agents that are so rare in urban environments such as bees, birds and butterflies. All the street furniture that will be used in the square will be made of metal and painted white. The three large structures resulting from this project (the central vegetable garden and the two openings to the tunnel) will become three large street lights at night. Bicycles that generate energy will be installed, inviting users to cycle and contribute to the lighting of the place.
Tribute to victims of run-overs – An interactive urban artwork using augmented reality will be part of the project. Created by architect Guto Requena, the "cyclists' musical garden" will serve as a memorial to those who died in traffic accidents in São Paulo. To access it, visitors will only need to point their cell phone camera at the flower boxes and see the virtual butterflies flying around and bearing the names of the victims. By clicking on them, it will be possible to listen to that cyclist's favorite song, a way of paying tribute to him. As with the Ghost Bikes spread throughout the city, the work "cyclists' musical garden" aims to shed light on the huge number of cyclists who die in traffic and put pressure on the government to take more safety measures, avoiding more tragedies. The works are expected to begin in March and will last three months. The companies signed a cooperation agreement with the City Hall, valid for three years.
