According to the studio, creating an immersive atmosphere for players and spectators was the starting point for the project, with fans placed as close to the field as possible. Lusail Stadium is covered with a "spoke wheel" shaped cable network that provides shade for fans and players. The 307 meter diameter structure is one of the largest ever installed in a stadium and, together with the façade, and was designed to help reduce energy consumption . Inside the stadium, which has been awarded five stars in the Global Sustainability Rating System , external air conditioning will also be used to cool fans. Once the event is over, the site will be transformed into a
community space , with schools, shops, cafes, sports facilities and health clinics.
Foster + Partners hopes the stadium will become " a lasting symbol " of the World Cup in the country.
