The city of Copenhagen, capital of Denmark, has just been named
World Capital of Architecture 2023 by UNESCO, becoming the host city of the
World Congress of the International Union of Architects in the same year. In its second edition, the initiative seeks
to highlight the role of architecture in building a sustainable future and in tackling global challenges. Designated every three years, the city elected World Capital of Architecture becomes an
international forum for debate around issues related to the urban environment.

The title will define the city's cultural agenda in 2023 through initiatives aimed at
raising public awareness of sustainable architecture .
"This is a chance for ordinary people and world leaders to see
the value of design in everyday life . Our partnership with UNESCO reinforces the place of architecture and urban design in advancing society's cultural values, which are so necessary in today's
world .
