Two exposed concrete slabs, one on the floor and the other on the roof, define
Casa Carvalho designed by the
FGMF architecture firm.
The glazed spaces perfectly integrate the interior with the exterior.
Large panes of glass , reminiscent of iconic modernist houses, allow plenty of natural light to enter various spaces.
In addition to the glazed spaces, the project incorporates
more opaque volumes , carefully positioned between the two concrete slabs. These volumes are covered with
oxidized copper strips and therefore bring the green color to the interior.
The house is carefully integrated into the gardens designed by landscaper
Alex Hanazaki . The flooring is particularly notable for its concrete slabs of different shapes and sizes. Trees such as the pata-de-vaca and jabuticaba trees are the main attraction and offer an invitation to contemplation and relaxation.
The gardens surround the infinity pool that blends into the lake landscape, and a small attached pavilion, entirely glazed and connected to the pool, which houses a gym and sauna.
"Casa Carvalho is based on a very objective investigation into the organization of a
weekend house program on a large, flat plot of land
facing a lake . Given such a special condition, the vast majority of the spaces are made up of
large glass panels , as in classic modernist houses, connecting the internal and external spaces," reveals the FGMF office.
When choosing the furniture, the trio of architects from FGMF chose classics of Brazilian design, such as the
Fardos armchair by Dpot and pieces designed by
Zalszupin , also including a special version of the
Paliteiro table designed by the architecture firm.
"It is a
pure summer house , in which all the architecture converges towards the coexistence and relaxation of the users", adds the trio of architects.
