Located in Angra dos Reis (RJ), this
600 m² beach house was completely renovated by architects
Carolina Escada and Patricia Landau , from the
Escala Arquitetura firm. The project included the redesign of the entire interior area to better accommodate the
property's nine suites , in addition to the expansion of the living room, which gained a new and spacious
balcony , facing the sea.
“In addition to the renovation itself, the clients also requested
improvements to the home’s lighting and ventilation , as well as a living space that was fully integrated into the garden,” says Carolina. “Our main concern was that everything would be in keeping with the
original features of the building , which were already very interesting, such as the
wooden beams, the louvered window frames and the roof design , and that the final result would also be well integrated into the surroundings,” highlights partner Patrícia.
Overall, the decor prioritized
natural elements to bring the typical tropical atmosphere of the region into the home, with emphasis on
rattan, coconut fiber, cattail and wood furniture . The color palette, which vibrates with this same beachy vibe (without falling into the cliché of the navy style), is a mix of
warm and cool tones, such as terracotta and green .
Protected by a
wooden pergola with a roof lined internally with strips of woven bamboo , the large front porch (added to the original construction) became the most popular space in the house during the family's leisure time – both for receiving friends and relatives, as well as for relaxing feeling the sea breeze or simply reading a book.
On one side of the balcony is the
outdoor living area , delimited by a large
light-colored nautical rope rug , decorated with
rustic furniture and accessories, as well as a hammock that invites you to relax. On the other side, a
round table with four chairs serves as a support for outdoor meals or games. In front, facing the sea, there are
six sun loungers (some with side tables between them), perfect for sunbathing or enjoying a refreshing drink.
Connected to the balcony by green-painted Venetian doors, the
living room has white walls, ceiling and sofas that further highlight the
striped kilim rug in earthy tones , in perfect harmony with the structure of the house, made of exposed wood, now painted in terracotta color. Here, the furniture is also made of natural materials, with highlights including the wooden coffee table, the bamboo chairs and the ottoman made of cattail fiber.
All
nine suites in the residence have a light and cozy atmosphere and were designed following the same pattern:
light carpet woven in nautical rope, bed with woven rattan headboard, linen bedding and wood and fiber furniture , with some pieces signed by renowned designers, such as
Jader Almeida, Maria Cândida Machado, Lattoog, Rejane Carvalho Leite, Leo Romano and Cristiana Bertolucci .
Art pieces also produced with natural materials help to reinforce the style of the décor (natural contemporary), such as the
fabric hanging on the wall of one of the rooms,
woven in coconut fiber with mother-of-pearl by artists Mônica Carvalho and Klaus Schneider. “The combination of large doors and windows in the rooms with plants in the décor further integrated the interior spaces with the surrounding garden, making everything more welcoming, pleasant and well-lit,” says Carolina. Speaking of the outdoor area,
the landscaping designed by Ecogarden is a mix of new plants and native species, with a lawn in the front that stretches all the way to the sea, punctuated by four large palm trees.
