For a couple with two young daughters and a large family, this
house was tailor-made to bring everyone together on weekends in the mountains of Rio de Janeiro. The project, designed by architect
Rafael Mirza – from the
CASACOR Rio cast –, prioritized large and integrated spaces that could comfortably welcome many guests.
The ground floor houses the entire social area of the property: a large
room with fireplace, living room, dining room, American
kitchen , toilet and a
wine cellar for up to 300 bottles .
"The residents thought it made sense to have a wine cellar in the mountains, and they were absolutely right. But since the space had not been planned initially, I decided to include it in the area below the stairs, near the entrance and dining area. And it ended up becoming one of the highlights of the space," says Mirza.
The outdoor area also received special attention:
in addition to a swimming pool with heated hydromassage, an annex was built there, which houses a large gourmet space with barbecue and a TV room. As promoting interaction between family and friends was the owners' main objective, integration is also present on the second floor of the main building, where there are four suites.
Although the bedrooms are completely independent, the floor plan was designed to encourage interaction between residents, if desired. There are two suites with walk-in closets for guests, one with two bunk beds to accommodate all the children in one space, as well as the master suite for the couple with a large walk-in closet, spacious bathroom with double vanity and two showers,
king-size bed, reading chairs and a fireplace for cold days.
In the decoration, as the residents wanted a typical “mountain house”, the architect chose to use
natural elements such as stones – which are present both on the facades of the two buildings and on the interior walls of the house –, and
wood , used not only in the planned carpentry, but also in panels and headboards.
