A
modern and quite luxurious house came very close to being destroyed. It was the last building built by Edward Fickett, in 1970, and this was what caught the attention of
Philippe Naouri , who used
retrofit techniques to make the space to be used again. Architect Naouri has always been interested in older buildings and sees great beauty in the
vintage style, and this was his main motivation for
restoring Edward Fickett's building to the modern era . “Nobody wanted to touch it. Everyone was scared, ‘so much money to spend’. They had no vision,” explains Naouri.

The
home is located in Malibu , and Naouri
completely renovated the spacious property . It features four bedrooms, four bathrooms, and
4,200 square feet of living space . “We kept the beams and began to rethink the house while restoring it to its original state.”

“I want people to feel comfortable at home, because it is made for you to relax and enjoy life. It was not made to be a museum,” says Naouri. Furniture was also an essential part of Naouri's renovation to preserve the vintage atmosphere with quality materials and good design.
Chairs by Charles Eames ,
Le Corbusier , a
sofa by Mies Van Der Rohe , a
lamp by Torchiere , these are some examples of how the architect placed art in each of the spaces in the house. Below, check out photos of the finished project:
