In times of pandemic, it was expected that the demand for homes outside the big cities would increase – after all, the number of people looking for
more outdoor space and more contact with nature is also growing. And architect
Mauricio Nóbrega is an expert in this. . One of the most sought after on the market when it comes to building
holiday and weekend homes , the architect is the one who designed this house in the mountains of Rio de Janeiro, entitled "
Casa do Secretário ".
Surrounded by mountains and trees, the
42,000 square meter plot of land is the new home of a couple from São Paulo. To better work the land, the architect recalls that an intense
earthmoving process was necessary. "There were many stones on the site, the land was on a slope and even so the set was divided into four plateaus:
the house, the pool, the court tennis court and a small stream ," he explains. Still, the entire work was completed in just two years.
The architecture of the residence was inspired by the
industrial style – starting with the roof tiles, which are made of concrete. The
solid clay bricks and the
black paint on the facade are also an excellent expression of the style. Made of metal structure, the house has wooden ceiling and trusses, but these were also covered in gray paint.
There are
450 square meters of built area divided into a living room with balcony, dining room with kitchen, and the bedroom wing – two guest suites and three suites for the couple and their children.
In the living room, everything is welcoming – starting with the
Mole sofa, by Sérgio Rodrigues . A beautiful mother-of-pearl chest of drawers and the cowhide-covered armchairs contribute to the
feeling of coziness, with a touch of rusticity . Behind them, a large window serves as a as a frame for the indoor garden landscape.
The kitchen and TV room were also divided into two wings. In this wing, Mauricio opted for a
grayish ceramic floor that resembles concrete – unlike the rest of the social area, where the floor covering is ceramic in large squares in shades of gray and graphite. To break up the rigidity of the industrial look, the entire side of the counter was covered in
tiles decorated with a cheerful print.
The master bedroom has a
contemporary style , especially the wooden four-poster bed. In the master bathroom, the cabinets are made of tauari wood. The children's bedrooms have
iron beds and
mezzanines – one of them with a screen for jump and have fun.
The
pool pavilion – a 125 square meter outbuilding – was equipped with a refrigerator, stove, pizza oven and barbecue, as well as rooms specifically for relaxation, such as a sauna, jacuzzi and massage room. The
landscaping project was designed by
Daniela Infante and follows the curves, descents and ascents of the terrain.
