The
STAL Arquitetura office, formed by the duo
Alessandra Pinho and
Stella Teixeira , designed this 600 m² house in Guarujá, in the interior of São Paulo, designed for a young couple with two small children, who bought the house already finished in mid-2019 and needed to redo all the decoration with the intention of using the house for the parties at the end of that year.
Therefore, the renovation prioritized, above all, the
creation of a light and relaxed atmosphere . There were no changes to the architecture of the house, except for the removal of a pergola on the balcony, between the house and the pool, which left the living room and dining room very dark.
The use of
neutral and
natural tones, as well as
wood and
linen for furniture, takes into account the local climate conditions, prioritizing furniture made of aluminum, nautical rope and fabric suitable for exposure to sun and rain for the outdoor area. In some areas, neutral tones are combined with
green details to harmonize with the lush nature of the place.
The garden was designed by landscaper
Alessandro Terracini . Larger, healthier species were preserved and complemented by organic, tropical-style plantations, creating
lush vegetation that would adapt to the region and give it a native appearance.
Before the renovation, the garden on the front of the house faced the street and the bushes that formed the hedge were close to the body of the house, which made the space dark. The new project
inverted the position of the garden , giving it more light.
In the living room, the more "serious" style furniture allows for a moment of aperitif and conversation at the end of the day, even though it uses
materials and tones with the same lightness as the other rooms .
In the
home , the more relaxed atmosphere was given a
sofa “for playing on” , a
pouf with several functions , which can be used to sit on on a game day with a full house, to rest your feet or even as a tray. In this space, the duo kept the existing furniture, but veneered it with
freijó veneer , to bring the warmth of wood.
The boys' room is the largest and was chosen this way so that they would have space to entertain their friends. The
bunk bed was chosen to be part of the fun, always following the color palette and materials of the entire house.
In the guest room, the office opted for
wooden beds with rope by designer Fernando Jaeger , which has everything to do with this beach atmosphere.
For the master suite, they invested in
slightly more sophisticated furniture , but still with the same connotation as the other rooms, a slatted bed, with larger bedside tables and some useful elements so that the owners of the house could have all the comfort they have in their São Paulo home, but in a more relaxed way.
