Anyone who lives in large urban centers knows that the desire to disconnect from the hustle and bustle is constant. A
summer house can be the perfect solution when intervening in the hectic routine, and, with this in mind, the
Gui Mattos architecture office came into the picture.

Named
Residência Haras Larissa III , the construction was built from scratch by the office. "The design of the residence starts from creating
communication with the external area , embracing the pool and lawn
through an 'L' shape ", explains Gui Mattos, in charge of the project.

The office's proposal was to make
residents feel embraced by nature and be able to rest with great comfort and spaciousness, as one of the activities that the couple does not give up is
receiving friends at home . For this, a spacious and comfortable gourmet area was implemented.

To create integration,
hollow wooden panels were implemented, as well as sliding doors made of the same material. The structure allows visibility to the backyard while isolating social areas, such as the living room.
The contemporary look brings a sophisticated atmosphere to the
country house . The architects opted for few pieces of furniture, well distributed, to maintain
fluid circulation and better ventilation in the spaces .
Project challenges
Some condominium rules meant that architects needed to resort to strategies to adapt to local legislation. One of the biggest challenges, according to Gui Mattos, was the mandatory use of exposed roofs and traditional architecture, which culminated in a
structure made of engineered wooden porticoes that is repeated throughout the two pavilions.

"Above all, this external 'shell' that guarantees residents' privacy also had the role of hiding the
orthogonal volumes in exposed concrete , a material much appreciated by clients, but which could not appear on the facades due to local legislation", he explains.
Custom office

In the mezzanine area, the studio chose a space that serves as an office and was completely custom-made for the couple, catering to all tastes in a personalized way. Reading and music were the main tastes highlighted by the residents to the architects, therefore, the mezzanine area was divided between
a library, space for vinyls and a work environment to meet this desire. "As the development of the house progressed during the pandemic, the need to create
areas for a home office arose and, as a result, a work desk was placed in the space, as well as retractable supports in the closet of the master suite to create a more reserved space", concludes Gui Mattos.
