400 m² house inspired by German architecture is as cozy as a chalet
In one of the few tree-lined neighborhoods still existing in the capital of São Paulo, a 400 m² house that welcomes a family with two teenage children has been given a unique design that preserved the original architecture – love at first sight for the couple who live there – but still brought features of contemporaneity and comfort .

Resembling a true Germanic chalet , the house was built following German architectural features, such as the triangular roof with a wooden structure . In charge of the project, the ARKITITO Arquitetura office sought not only to reformulate the space, but also to adopt sustainable construction techniques in the renovation.

The original design of the house was quite segmented, and to enhance ventilation and natural light, the architects decided to replace the original frames with wider, glass models and also opt for lighter tones for the décor, except for the exterior façade, which follows a darker tone precisely to bring about the overlap between the external and internal environments.

On the exterior, the archetypal section of the house extends linearly from a metal-framed portico , similar to a pergola, which protects the entrance and filters the light.
A gourmet balcony was created by integrating the kitchen with the outdoor area in terracotta tones, which highlight the environment and bring this connection with nature .

With a focus on integration and greater connection between residents, the new arrangement allows for a view of the entire social area . From the entrance, the pergola indicates access to the living room , from where it is possible to see the social area, the kitchen, the gourmet balcony, the pool in the background, and the office on the upper floor .

Another decision made by the office, which also contributed to improving the ventilation of the space, was to get rid of the slab that previously housed an attic. This removal resulted in the living room having a ceiling height of over 6 meters , that is, twice the size of the original.

The upper floor houses the private areas. The mezzanine is home to the family office, which is open and integrated, while the three suites are distributed over the two side façades and also have high ceilings thanks to the slope of the roof. As a bonus, each bedroom also has a private balcony .
