Located in a small town between the Planalto Médio and Serra Gaúcha, the 170 m² Trapézios House , designed by Studio KUNZ , is located on an urban edge surrounded by an idyllic landscape formed by araucaria trees that crown its roof. (Ezequiele Panizzi/CASACOR)
The land, an elevated trapezoidal plateau, was chosen to house the program: a single-story house for a young couple who have a close relationship with country life. The formal essence of the house is a reinterpretation of the gable-roofed house archetype, deconstructed to form two juxtaposed trapezoidal sections. (Ezequiele Panizzi/CASACOR)
One of these trapezoids is projected onto a rectangle extended to the edge of the land, while the other, set back, houses the main access via a staircase . In order to maintain the building's single-story configuration , the garage was located at the back of the house, accessible via a gentle ramp that starts at the front gate hidden in the wooden slats. (Ezequiele Panizzi/CASACOR)
Open to the view of the trees that surround the back of the land, the garage also serves as a barbecue room.
The internal configuration is developed on two levels subtly spaced by three steps, a difference highlighted by the façade which also reflects the functional division of the internal spaces. (Ezequiele Panizzi/CASACOR)
The lower social sector has the main access on the façade and secondary access via the garage, forming an L around the private sector. Upon entering the house, the living room and kitchen space is revealed to be spacious and fluid . The palette of materials that combines wood, linen and burnt cement is enhanced by the white color attributed to the walls and ceiling, in a monolithic finish. (Ezequiele Panizzi/CASACOR)
The fireplace and wood stove provide the necessary comfort for the Gaucho winter. (Ezequiele Panizzi/CASACOR)
