The
lunar calendar is part of Chinese culture and inspires many different areas of work in the country. The decor of a restaurant in Shanghai was no exception.
Jessica Wu and Mengjie Liu of Sò Studio designed Lunar, a restaurant that aims to be a a calm space amidst the hustle and bustle of urban life in the center.
The
restaurant was completed in 2020 and features a delicate touch in its décor, consisting of a neutral base and light wood to bring sophistication. The restaurant was designed in an independent village that was once part of the French Concession, and so it remains a land for the country's
cultural preservation .
The project was carefully thought out in every detail. The choice of
textures, colors and furniture were carefully selected to be in total synergy with the
traditional Chinese ritual during important events of the lunar calendar.
The space was divided into two floors and featured
soft, matte colors that extend from the reception to the center of the hall. The architects also opted for a room dedicated to the tea ritual that offers a
multisensory experience. Source: Domusweb
