Multidisciplinary artist
Yinka Ilori has transformed
Blue Rider cafe , an open-air dining space located in Miami’s Superblue art space, into a
bold and exuberant shipping container , where a mural bursts with color
inspired by Nigerian parables and West African textiles. that surrounded him when he was a child. "In a way, I'm giving the audience an insight into my background and
allowing them to experience part of my experiences . My work is based on my stories, the stories of my parents and my friends," reflected the artist.
"I love telling stories from traditional Nigerian folklore that celebrate happiness and joy, positivity and hope; and I also love stories that come from my British side, as I was born and raised in London.
I am inspired by a hybrid of different things ".
"I think this space, for me, is a place where
you can reflect and absorb what you've seen . There are so many different themes and the café brings all of that together in one place where you can sit, drink, talk about what you've just experienced, meditate, reflect and just absorb everything", he summarizes.
