Have you ever visited a city and remembered a specific architect? Around the world, several cities have received architectural projects from professionals who have left their mark explicitly and, some, subtly, but who have undoubtedly influenced the development of the metropolis, after all, architecture impacts social, economic and environmental aspects. With this in mind, below we have selected 5 cities that feature the trademark of different architects. Check it out!

1. Oscar Niemeyer - Brasilia, Brazil

Invited in 1956 by President Juscelino Kubitschek to build the new capital of Brazil, Oscar Niemeyer left his mark on the city through his organic, loose, light curves, created by the movement of the hand . It is impossible to visit Brasília and not be impressed by the masterpiece that, together with Lúcio Costa (responsible for the city's architectural planning), the architect designed for his country's legacy.

2. Lina Bo Bardi and Paulo Mendes da Rocha - Sao Paulo, Brazil

Appointed mayor of Paris by Napoleon III in 1853, Georges-Eugène Haussmann became known in the history of urban planning and cities for introducing and applying the "Haussmannian" architectural style (in his honor) in the French capital, which sought to modernize, sanitize and bring better living conditions , circulation and infrastructure to the bourgeoisie. However, behind this urbanization plan for the city, there was a strategy to control and prevent popular rebellions in the streets of Paris.

4. Antoni Gaudí - Barcelona, Spain

An important figure in Catalan modernism, Antoni Gaudí left his dazzling, unique and untraditional talent in the city of Barcelona , Spain. The mix of surrealism, cubism and neo-gothic aspects in his architectural works is what impresses anyone who lands in this metropolis.

5. Le Corbusier – Chandigarh, India

Known as the " Indian Brasilia ", Chandigarh was born from the need to become a city that exuded modernity and progress in the 1950s through the projects of architect Le Corbusier who always sought to develop functional and tactical buildings in his work for lighter constructions that were integrated with nature.
