The
Pinacoteca is a very important center of culture and art for São Paulo, as well as a temple of architecture. The state government decided to expand the building and
annex the Pinacoteca Luz with the Pinacoteca Estação , which promises to be one of the largest museums in Latin America.
The Pinacoteca has already had the talent of the great architect Paulo Mendes da Rocha in its restoration, who even participated in choosing the architects who would build the new addition. The Associate Architects have until today (30) to adjust the proposal and transform it into a more tactical plan to occupy the space - formerly the courtyard of the
Prudente de Moraes school - which has 3,548 m² of built area and a plot of 6,858 m². The choice of Associate Architects was made through a notice opened by Apac (Associação Pinacoteca Arte e Cultura-Apac) on July 4th, in which a commercial proposal for the project was requested - without the need for a drawing yet.
