The former Hotel Paysandu, one of the classic Rio developments located in the Flamengo neighborhood, underwent a renovation that
transformed the hotel into a residential complex with 50 apartments , in addition to providing communal spaces and a leisure area on the rooftop . Leading the retrofit project,
Cité Arquitetura aims to preserve the building's memory as much as possible
and will highlight elements that define it, such as the notable Art Deco style of the façade . Piimo's new development will feature landscaping by Escritório Burle Marx and lighting by Maneco Quinderé . “It is always a great challenge and an honor to work with memory and connect it in an innovative way with the present times, envisioning the future. This was the great motivator for the Paysandu 23 project, the former Hotel Paysandu. A listed building , it becomes the substrate for yet another challenge that seeks to intertwine the lines of the past and the future ”, says architect Fernando Costa, partner at Cité Arquitetura. With this proposal to unite the past and the present, several elements serve as support to bring a more modern atmosphere. The façade, on the other hand, was preserved and needs special care to restore its prominence
in Art Deco style through lighting by Maneco Quinderé . Inside, the use of accessories from the hotel's original design brings a pleasant
nostalgia to visitors.
Lamps , panels, doors, among other elements, have been reinterpreted and take on new uses and functions within the space. The residential complex also has a
coworking option for those who work from home.
“Instead of being in a single location, the workspaces are spread across the floors, bringing residents closer together and making it easier for them to have more comfort in their new routine.
