The entire internal area of the first floor is developed at different levels, taking advantage of the slope of the land. “The large entrance hall is on one level, while the
living rooms , pantry and
kitchen are on another level and the exterior on a third level”, explains architect Pedro Kastrup.

The double height allowed the construction of a vertical circulation around a central winter garden, protected by a skylight, flooding the interior of the house with natural light.

Facing the front facade, the master
suite consists of a bedroom, TV room, office, closet,
bathroom and balcony, with views of Pedra da Gávea. To guarantee privacy for the couple, the architects opened the balcony to the side facade and created smaller windows on the front facade.

The
daughter's room was explored as a unique and integrated environment, without division of spaces, but with areas designed for different uses, such as the
swing for rest and contemplation of the view and the woodwork with bed and pull-out bed for entertaining friends and watching TV.

During a trip to the south of Brazil, the client visited designer
Aristeu Pires ' store, was enchanted by his creations and asked the architects to explore his pieces in the new house. “We mixed pieces by Aristeu, such as the dining table and chairs and the armchairs near the fireplace, with creations by other Brazilian designers from different generations, such as
Gustavo Bittencourt and Jean Gillon ,” says architect Luiza Baeta.

As the family is large and party-loving,
outside , a very spacious and integrated environment was created for customers to welcome friends and host parties, with
a pool area, sauna and a large gourmet space, protected by a pergola with a metal structure and bamboo and glass cover to filter sunlight.

With the aim of maintaining the protagonism of the lush green surrounding nature, the
palette has a very neutral base and the colors appear punctually in some furniture, with emphasis on the sofa in the TV room, upholstered in pink fabric.

In terms of materiality, the project made the most of different textures, such as
peroba do campo joinery, burnt cement floors, white walls, exposed concrete, natural stone, white linen curtains, natural fiber rugs and many plants. (Fotos: Denilson Machado, do MCA / Produção visual: Studio Jefferson Stunner/CASACOR)
“The biggest challenge of this project was the steep terrain and part of it made up of rocks. We had to work on the levels well so that the house was not too high in relation to street level, without compromising the integration of the environments, which was a fundamental point”, concludes architect Evelyn Sawamura, from PKB Arquitetura.
