Idealized in the past and a reality in the present,
smart homes are known for bringing more practicality and comfort to residents,
automating tasks such as turning lights on and off, turning the television on or off, opening curtains and much more.

These technologies are universal, and can play an even more important role when it comes to
ensuring greater inclusion and practicality in the routine of a
person with a disability or
reduced mobility in their home. This was the theme that architects Audrey Carolini and Thamires Mendes, head of
ARQTAB , together with the
MF Arquitetura office, focused on for the 67m² space exhibited at
CASACOR São Paulo 2023.
The architects created a fully intelligent integrated space through the use of assistive technology. The
Casa do Ser (name given to the project) has everything from
automated plant irrigation to
drawers that open via voice command .

"The idea is to promote the home as a space where people can be who they are, with their limitations and possibilities. We want to show that it is possible to create inclusive and accessible environments, without giving up comfort and technology," explains Audrey Carolini.

Controlled by
artificial intelligence , Casa do Ser has
devices that assist in the process of automating carpentry , such as voice assistants linked to various elements of the house. The television, for example, can be transported from the living room to the bedroom using voice commands.

"The project is based on recent discussions about different bodies occupying different spaces in a democratic way, using the concept of universal design to create an environment that would actually exercise these reflections. It is not just a question of inclusion, but also of ensuring the comfort and safety of all people," says Thamires Mendes.

The space has
a bed and a motorized wheelchair , providing comfort and practicality for people with
reduced mobility . The
marble with a sculpted finish brings elegance to the aesthetics, and above all, functionality, while the high-quality appliances guarantee the functionality of the space.
