Biophilia , a concept that connects people to nature to promote physical and emotional well-being, is the starting point for
Refúgio da Chef Indígena , a project by
Thaís Alves for
CASACOR Ribeirão Preto 2023 .
More than that, this delicious
refuge was inspired by a very special character:
Kalymaracaya, from the Terena people , one of the first indigenous chefs recognized in Brazil.
(Felipe Araújo / CASACOR)
“
I wanted someone who was truly connected to nature . So I created a refuge for her, a little piece of her old home, so she could have contact with her ‘land’ in the middle of the big city,” explains Thais.
(Felipe Araújo / CASACOR)
To create the new home, Thaís used
clay brick cladding and the
Velvet (Coral) texture in the Greek culture color, creating a welcoming feel.

“In addition to providing tranquility, biophilic design can
reduce stress ,
increase productivity and creativity , among other benefits for those who live in or frequent these spaces.”
