Fernanda Gemus - Be Blue Room. The project was designed for a modern couple with an autistic son and was inspired by Rafael, the architect's nephew, who was diagnosed with autism during the pandemic. The 56 m² space is flexible and adapted to the child's needs and was developed together with two professionals specialized in the disorder - the environment brings elements to work the four senses as a form of stimulation and development. The name is inspired by the color blue, symbol of autism.

The name of the space itself says it all: the Be Blue Room is a corner of neutral tones punctuated by a deep blue that runs from the woodwork, to the fabrics, and even to the walls. Fernanda Gemus had a special motivation for choosing the color: her nephew Rafael, diagnosed with autism during the pandemic. The room is entirely inspired by him and blue seemed like a natural choice, after all the color is a symbol of autism.

The 56 m² space is flexible and adapted to the child's needs . In the integrated area, the children's room is connected to the parents' room, which has privacy guaranteed by a sliding door. To create the project, Gemus spoke with two professionals to understand what is necessary when living with a child with autism: psychologist Leana Bernardes and occupational therapist Rejane Damaceno . Together, the three were able to imagine elements capable of activating the child's four senses . as a way to stimulate its development.

"The idea was to avoid excessive visual stimulation and create a cozy atmosphere. The lighting is a starry sky to have dimming, the study space is inside a little house, there is a swing and a rug that blends in with the texture of the porcelain tiles", explains Gemus.
