One of the most pressing needs of post-pandemic homes is the office. Even though companies are slowly resuming their activities, the dynamics of work have been changed forever by the pandemic, and home office is here to stay. Including a space in your home that focuses on work may seem contradictory at first. After all, the home should be a place for relaxation and decompression, the opposite of work, so to speak. It is precisely the balance between these ideas that that has marked the projects of the Janelas CASACOR editions so far. The professionals needed to imagine harmony between the functional and the aesthetic, the comfortable and the practical, privacy and conviviality.

Putting affection into office

Being comfortable in such an uncomfortable moment is a privilege. For this reason, several of the Janelas CASACOR spaces in Brazil bring with them a cozy and warm atmosphere. Whether it’s through the choice of comfortable furniture – the pieces by Sergio Rodrigues are a great example – or by the use of wood and the presence of plants. Leo Romano plays with the sound proximity of words in his Home Office Afeto , for Janelas CASACOR, Brasília edition . The project has a relaxed and homely feel, but offers all the necessary structure for work. The presence of works of art deserves to be highlighted. , especially the portrait of Adriano Damas, which invites social reflection. In terms of furniture, pieces by Osvaldo Tenório, by master Sérgio Rodrigues and a sofa-table designed by the office itself exclusively for this edition meet all the demands of an office . In São Paulo, Caixa de Histórias is a perfect place to read. Gustavo Martins, its creator, explains that the project is “a new vision of the home office”. Instead of an impersonal office, he proposes “a library of memories” , of memories”. Its zigzag bookshelf and comfortable furniture complement the wood paneling. But the Caixa’s story doesn’t stop at the office; after the end of the Janelas CASACOR season, São Paulo edition , it will be donated to a community in the city to function as a recreational space. Wood is also the star of the Entrepreneur Lounge at Janelas CASACOR, Ceará edition. Surrounded by the material, the occupant can relax or hold a video conference in the Vivi armchair, another appearance by master Sergio Rodrigues. Natural materials such as raw fabrics and leather help to bring an organicity to the space. In Recife, at Janelas CASACOR, Pernambuco edition , Ju Nejaim's Home Office uses greenery and crafts to make the office warmer. The space has a sofa and armchair, desk and bookshelf, all very functional. It is in the decoration that the space comes to life: there are ceramic heads by Cida, a wall rosary by Jair de Tracunhaém and a photographic composition of lions by Nuca, signed by Walter Dias. To finish, a vertical garden brings the freshness of nature to the interior.

Mix of Styles

In the two spaces of Janelas CASACOR, Minas Gerais edition , what stands out is the mix of more classic pieces, some even antiques, with others totally contemporary. In the Home Office , designed by Carol Horta, the goal was to create a “mini museum” , through lighting that enhances each part of the furniture and the works of art. With sober colors balanced by the delicacy of the furniture lines, the space completes its vintage atmosphere with a phrase on the wall in reference to Ella Fitzgerald. With the same “retro” style, the Collector’s Lounge , by Andrea Pinto Coelho, as its name suggests, includes historical pieces in its decor. The ornate wooden furniture gives the space a memorialistic and nostalgic character.

A return to the essence

Reflection on what is truly essential has never been so necessary and even compelled. In times of deprivation and change, it is natural to think about excesses. Both Office Terra , by Leo Shehtman for Janelas CASACOR, São Paulo edition , and Espaço (dis)continuous , by Janelas CASACOR, Ribeirão Preto edition , signed by Eduardo Franco Correia, seek to reconnect with the primordial. “We are back home, looking at our home, at our emotional memory,” explains Shehtman. His container has an earthy, almost ancestral color palette. The furniture, in turn, features several pieces composed of crystals and raw stones and On the desk, instead of a computer, we find a beautiful typewriter. Worth mentioning is the Zettel'z lamp, by Ingo Maurer, full of messages and meaning. The lean look of the (dis)continuous Space draws attention: it doesn't even have physical walls, being delimited only by light. It is inspired by what is most inherent and indispensable to human beings: breathing. With few pieces of furniture, it is an interactive environment, whose lights and projections oscillate according to the occupant's inhalation and exhalation. Lined with dried leaves, this office invites philosophy.

Explosion of colors

When you think of a traditional office, you imagine a gray, white place without much expression. Luciana Paraíso and Fernando Brandão put an end to this paradigm in their spaces for Janelas CASACOR, Bahia and São Paulo editions , respectively. With lots of colors and vivacity, the projects give energy to whoever is working there. In Bahia, green was chosen at Origens do Morar because of its reference to nature. The furniture follows this language, prioritizing more organic and vegetal lines. Highlights include photographs of foliage and landscapes that connect visitors to the world of forests. Not far from wildlife is ETC , by Fernando Brandão. The office's main attraction is an elephant graffitied on the wall by artist Carlos Matuck. The animal symbolizes the “white elephant” of the virus that is circulating. The energy of the colors, however, does not stay aside, especially the yellowish, orange and red tones.
