A house that opens up possibilities for a more sustainable future: this is the
LG ThinQ House , a project by
Estúdio Guto Requena for
CASACOR São Paulo 2021. In partnership with the Pax.Arq studio, the
open-source digital manufacturing project
combines design, art, technology and sustainability in a home connected to the future.
"The mixture of space, time and body seems to be the paradigm incorporated by electronic arts and architecture at the beginning of this century. The result is this
hybrid, expanded space, made of places and flows , a space of interconnected,
linked places, in metropolitan regions. which, in the internet age, are characterized simultaneously by spatial dispersion and concentration, by the mixture of land use patterns and by hypermobility", says architect Guto Requena.
In this edition of the exhibition, the theme to be sought by architects is "
The Original House ", instigating a reflection on the evident desire to return to origins, to seek in ancestry and simplicity the necessary balance between the past and the future.
This is the LG ThinQ House, where
the living and dining rooms, kitchen, bedroom, two balconies and the LG showroom are integrated into the same home, which resembles a cabin. The rooms have
furniture that emphasizes Brazilian design and works of art. selected by the architect himself.
The curation of furniture and objects by Guto Requena seeks to present
rising names in Brazilian design , combined with the classics. Among the furniture, some of the products are authored by Estudio Guto Requena – including some
special launches digitally designed through
parametric programming and manufactured in CNC – a similar technique was also used in the construction of the house itself.
In a scenario where civil construction is one of the main causes of CO2 emissions into the atmosphere, the project opens up a
new possibility for designing and building . Thus, the LG ThinQ House is an
open-source project, carried out using the
Wikihouse platform. with the intention of democratizing and simplifying sustainable housing construction. Built from sheets of naval pine plywood, machined by hand and assembled using fittings, the house is a
clean, quick and waste-free project .
