[galeria-abril id='28686' type='slider'] With spaces becoming increasingly smaller and the desire to have a garden, alternatives have been created to make homes greener, taking advantage of the smallest possible and existing spaces. The vertical garden is a great option for those who love nature and live in a small space. In addition to the small space they take up, most of these gardens have an automated irrigation system, which prevents water waste and optimizes time. This gardening model was a trend at Casa Cor São Paulo 2015 and was present in several environments. Landscaper Chris Pierro, who designed Jardim das Casas, gave us some tips for those who want to have a vertical garden, but have many doubts and do not know how to how to adapt it to your home. Check it out!
What precautions should I take? Choosing the right plant species; observing the technical conditions of the location where the garden will be installed (lighting and weather conditions); adequate irrigation and drainage; periodic maintenance. Which species should I choose? The choice of plant species will depend on the location where the vertical garden will be installed, remembering that items such as light, climatic conditions, air humidity, temperature, must be studied for the optimized creation of the garden. Does the vertical garden cause infiltration in the wall? The place where it will be installed must be treated to prevent infiltration. Generally, depending on the technique used for the vertical garden, the space must be prepared with adequate waterproofing. What is the ideal size for a vertical garden? There is no size limit for a vertical garden, which I think is great: the greener the better! In addition to contributing to temperature reduction and acoustic insulation, the vertical garden technique contributes to attract local flora and fauna. The important thing is to create the landscaping project, where the vertical garden will be inserted and in total harmony with the entire garden or space where it will be implemented. For inspiration, we have selected the vertical gardens that gave charm and life to the spaces at the São Paulo exhibition, as you can see in the gallery above.
