Participating in CASACOR São Paulo for the third time, André Bacolov, Kika Mattos and Marcela Penteado designed a 40 m² kitchen, with a structure that has been marked by the passage of time. Belonging to the Triart Arquitetura office, the trio thought mainly about the functionality of the space. : a large space with furniture, plants and spices. The styles still mix: between the rustic structure and furniture, the pendants were chosen to give a touch of modernity. “Our intention was to present the space as it really is, which is why we also chose the name Cozinha Matriz, which refers to to the place where something is generated”, highlight the architects. The architects were inspired by a concept that is very common in Europe, in which old mansions and warehouses are transformed into other spaces. The idea was to transform the Jockey into a kitchen marked by the history of the building. The parts that were already worn by time were purposely left in evidence and some layers of old paint were removed until reaching the original structure. With the concept of having everything in the kitchen at your fingertips, the open modules vary between lead gray and black colors. The three-module island has drawers with accessories for cutlery, as well as plate holders and a pantry kit, with dividers for pans. , inserted to provide space savings. The trio brings works of art that translate the concept of space, such as the sculptures Trapézio , by Luiz Hermanona, Volcano Arenal , by Luiz Hermano, the graphite on paper by the artist Gal Oppido, entitled Drawing Glass and in the work A cor ao cubo , by Claudio Alvarez, the project also featured an image signed by Bahian photographer Kiolo. Also noteworthy is the sculpture by Cuban artist Jorge Mayet: a tree built with copper wire, papier-mâché, acrylic paint, polyurethane and synthetic fiber. The 75 x 60 cm piece, which is prominently suspended in the center of the staircase, was purposely chosen due to the importance that the visual artist gives to the elements of nature. The Kitchen also has an outdoor area, a corridor with a rusty metal portico, used to create shapes, volume and reinforce the destroyed concept. This "extra corner" invites visitors to go from the indoor to the outdoor space, passing through a Carefully constructed green area, considering the need for proximity to nature. With compositions of pots and plants, the landscaping features elongated species, such as black bamboo, which harmonizes with the high ceilings of the Jockey Club. CASACOR SERVICE SAO PAULO 2018
