O clima do ambiente é reforçado pelas cores naturais. (Denilson Machado/CASACOR)

The iconic work "Cangaceiro", by Candido Portinari, and all the symbolism of the northeastern backlands were the inspiration for Nildo José's environment for CASACOR São Paulo 2022. In the 35th edition of the exhibition, the architect created Sertão Portinari , in partnership with the porcelain and covering brand, Portinari , which bears the artist's surname.

“We always think that the backlands are about the land, about the drought. When, in fact, it is about the SKY, about the RAIN that is to come and about FAITH. It is to the sky that we look when we wake up there”, explains professional who brings an optimistic vision to the backlands. The space offers integrated and fluid environments, with Brazilianness as its main concept. With a focus on cozy interiors, with fewer items and a soft aesthetic.

A brise-soleil surrounds the entire area and makes reference to the rammed earth construction system: the use of clay and wood to create walls. This relationship creates an unusual effect between the rusticity of the backlands and the elegance of the innovative proposal in the arrangement of porcelain tiles.
