The theme “The Original House” is what unites the environments of all CASACOR events taking place throughout Brazil in 2021 - but this does not mean a uniformity of ideas! With the individual interpretation of each participating professional, references, experiences and life experiences create the most diverse types of projects focusing on Brazilianness . At CASACOR SC , the second exhibition in the 2021 calendar , another recurring theme in the spaces is the recovery of Brazilian roots , a theme in vogue in times of pandemic and when time spent indoors has become longer. Whether in furniture, design pieces, colors, materials from all parts of the country, plants and even social and economic references, Brazil is represented in the most varied forms in the Santa Catarina edition . We have selected three environments whose inspiration is guided by Brazilianness. Check it out!
Popular culture from all over Brazil

“My inspiration was the depth and diversity of Brazilian culture. I tried to rescue a little bit of all our Brazils”, says architect Juliana Pippi , about the essence of Living Camadas Brasileiras . While traveling throughout Brazil, the professional immersed herself in in lands of Alagoas, Minas Gerais, Ceará, Bahia, as well as Santa Catarina and Rio Grande do Sul, to fill your luggage with the beauty of simplicity. The result is seen in the collection of pieces by artists and artisans, which make up the space designed for the exhibition, which, as Juliana defines it, “is a true laboratory”. Brazilianness is evident in the connection with Brazilian popular culture, in the appreciation of handmade items. , which generates value and that feeling of belonging, so scarce in current times.

From the Taboa rug, from Paraíba , to the pendant over the dining table, signed by Mariana Amaral, from the community of Várzea Queimada, in Piauí , to the work Sementes, in the window area, by Clara Fernandes, who currently lives in Florianópolis , to painting behind the sofa, by Gustavo Moreno, from Recife . The reflection of this Brazil appears in the living room ambiance in many compositions, textures, materials and colors, which, in fact, exalt the tones of the layers of the soil, the earth, the layers of the skin, to enable multiple sensations.
Affective memories and exotic stones
Jeferson Branco showed Brazilianness in his architectural manifesto, which goes beyond aesthetics. The studio project, which he calls [meu.coração.queima] , is provocative and invites reflection in times of a strange, polarized Brazil that seems losing its identity. “In this 51 m² space, I bring some indignation regarding the current situation in the country, such as the devaluation of our natural resources and social inequality. This feeling is reflected in our original home,” he highlights.

[my.heart.burns] - Jeferson Branco. Guided by the theme "Original Home", the project seeks inspiration in Brazilian popular homes through traditional decorative elements contrasted with high-end finishes. An environment that provokes questions about social inequality through a high-low design language, which mixes high-value brands or products with low-cost accessories and finishes.

Handicraft items, which are present in many Brazilian homes and are affordable, have been reinterpreted to form part of the contemporary architectural scene. Brazilian popular culture is based on fond memories of grandma's and parents' houses . That's why plates and cups coffee maker, small mirror with orange frame, blue kitchen, straw hammock, clay water filter and cobogós gain notoriety in the composition of the environment, rescuing the affective memory of a place that is physically distant, but current in the hearts of those who lived in a time of more real, eye-to-eye encounters, and less virtual ones. And what's more: making a deliberate counterpoint, Jeferson exalts exotic stones, extracted in Bahia and Minas Gerais , “natural beauties that don't even stay in our country, as they are mostly exported to the United States and Asia”, recalls the professional.
Tropical plants and connection with nature

In addition to people turning more towards their homes, they also sought to increase their connection with nature, both indoors and outdoors. Ana Trevisan , a landscape architect, showed how it is possible, for example, to explore a terrace so that relationship with greenery, with natural life, becomes even closer, whether for relaxation, for a moment of introspection or even for reflection on what is essential. On the CASACOR terrace, the 400 m² environment encourages outdoor coexistence free.

Around, a view of the hillside covered with Atlantic Forest and the bay of Santo Antônio de Lisboa. “ Rooftop 20|21 was named after the years that transformed our lives, connected us with our homes, with nature and with outdoor spaces. The terraces were designed to have a cosmopolitan and contemporary atmosphere, inspired by the tops of buildings in large urban centers. We believe that a terrace space can be used for socializing and contemplating the landscape and we create different spaces that can accommodate people in different ways”, highlights Ana. The distributed vegetation fulfills multiple functions: protection, shade and ambiance. In a tropical country, all the species chosen by the professional took into account the inclement weather, including the wind, so characteristic of these areas. This return to tropicality is also a genuine feeling and so impregnated in Brazilian homes, today, even more significant. And Ana exposed this by betting on tones, textures and flowers that create a tropical ambiance. Highlights include white Streliztias, crotons, moray eels, bulbines, xanadus, among others.[newsletter]
