The modernist building from 1953, a heritage of urban memory and Gaucho architecture, becomes the vibrant center of an event that goes far beyond design, architecture, and decoration — a space that celebrates innovation and reconnection with the city through architecture and design. Check out the projects below!

Occupation with meaning

Reopening the old terminal is a powerful symbolic gesture. A place for departures and reunions now transforms into a space for permanence and contemplation. Originally scheduled for September 2024, CASACOR Rio Grande do Sul was postponed to May 2025 due to the floods that hit the state. During the restructuring period, the interior of the building, which was completely flooded, underwent new interventions to host the event's works. "This building is deeply connected to the memories of residents and travelers. Reactivating it with an event that celebrates home, encounters, and affection is a tribute to the city and its history," says Karína Capaverde, director of CASACOR Rio Grande do Sul. In times of reconstruction, a poetic and urgent gesture. The facade of the old terminal is now a visual manifesto. The Sun Setting Facade project, signed by the Architecture and Design team of CASACOR RS in collaboration with Studio1 Architecture and Coral Paints, colors the brises of the building with a gradient inspired by the hues of Porto Alegre's sunset. The work is more than just an aesthetic intervention: amid the greatest climatic tragedy in the state's history, it becomes a symbol of hope, contemplation, and regeneration.

The conquest of space

Few places in Porto Alegre house a work as grand and preserved over the years. Right at the entrance of CASACOR Rio Grande do Sul 2025, the visitor rekindles the monumental panel The Conquest of Space, created in the 1970s by Aldo Locatelli, Emílio Sessa, and Attílio Pisoni — a landmark of Brazilian public art that has crossed decades as a guardian of the city’s affective memory. With over 20 m in width and colors that still vibrate with intensity, the mural is now recontextualized in the reception space signed by Caroline Kreling. By preserving the modernist lines of the terminal and inserting contemporary furniture with curatorial precision, the project reconfigures the space into a manifesto about memory, future, and the transformative power of art — making the old hall, as before, an invitation to travel. This time, for a sensitive journey through the territories of living.
