Paula Neder and Coletivo PN+ - Espaço Prosa. A light and comfortable space that invites, welcomes and shelters. A meeting point for multiple forms of exchange. The furniture prioritizes loose furniture that brings flexibility in the use of space, with a highlight being the re-edited bookcase by Bernardo Figueiredo. The finishes follow the natural line, with neutral colors, handcrafted objects, wood, fibers and a certain air of imperfection. Color appears with everything in the kitchen, created in a previously closed space of the house, and in the artistic mural by Coletivo Muda.

The location is the same, but the similarities end there. With a fresh look, a new theme and, of course, a number of new environments, CASACOR Rio de Janeiro debuts the CASACOR exhibition season in 2022 with the best of architecture, interior decoration, design, art and landscaping. The exhibition, which opens its doors to the public at Residência Brando Barbosa on Wednesday, April 27 , and runs until June 26 2022 , presents 45 environments designed and developed by the talented cast of 43 teams of the most prominent professionals in the contemporary living universe. To explore the " Private Infinity ", the theme of CASACOR 's exhibitions this year, which deals with the home as a collection of memories and a safe haven for residents, the exhibition gave even more emphasis to its external area – especially the garden, which captivated so many visitors in the previous edition, whose area totals 12 thousand m² covered by native vegetation of the Atlantic Forest . Thus, of the 45 environments, only 22 are located inside the main house . The other 23 environments occupy the external area of the residence, which houses a gastronomic complex, commercial areas and Vila CASACOR, one of the novelties of this 31st edition.

Urban Refuge, by UP3 Arquitetura- CASACOR Rio 2022
02/45 -

UP3 Arquitetura by Cadé Marino, Michelle Wilkinson and Thiago Morsch - Urban Refuge. A sensory balcony that transports visitors to a universe where urban chaos seems to be in another dimension. Here, the smell is unique and exclusive; the music is relaxing; the atmosphere is one of peace and tranquility. The highlight of the décor is the muxarabi ceiling, which creates a play of light and shadow, helping visitors disconnect from everything around them. Organic shapes, an earthy tone palette, natural elements and a strong presence of green remind us that this world is indeed from Rio!

Ricardo-Portilho-002
03/45 -

Ricardo Portilho - Jardim do Chafariz. Facing the main entrance of the house, Jardim do Chafariz gained even more prominence with the landscaping intervention. New native plants were incorporated into the space, which also received elegant furniture, all made of nautical rope. A combination that results in a welcoming environment, which combines well-being and comfort. Sculptures by Raul Mourão and Thelma Inecco bring even more charm to the space, designed as a tribute to Odaléa Brando Barbosa, the former owner of the property.

(André Nazareth)
Cristiana-Mascarenhas_Mariana-Mascarenhas-006
04/45 -

Cristiana and Mariana Mascarenhas - Expo. With countless works created exclusively for CASACOR, Expo is an informal exhibition space designed for artists in residence at our Institute to gather their works, produce, and exchange ideas. An environment that draws a parallel and pays homage to the neighboring Parque Lage and its concept of a “powerhouse of ideas” imagined by Rubem Gerchman. The artist, in fact, is honored in one of the works on display, created by Ozi. There are also pieces by Daniel Lannes, Herbert Sobral, Mulambo, and Geleia.

(André Nazareth)
Migrant House, by João Panaggio - CASACOR Rio 2022
05/45 -

João Panaggio - Casa Migrante. On the beach, in the countryside or in a corner of the city. Casa Migrante could be anywhere, but it was in one of the most charming corners of our garden that it was born. Its architecture is striking – somewhat modernist –, with a metal structure covered externally in stone and a large internal space with almost no divisions. There, the woven wood panel stands out, which separates intimate and social areas, and a huge skylight in the bedroom that transforms day and night light into a vivid picture.

(André Nazareth)
Winter Garden, by Adriana Valle and Patricia Carvalho - CASACOR Rio de Janeiro 2022 Environment
06/45 -

Adriana Valle and Patricia Carvalho - Winter Garden. A room designed for meetings, with different scenes for different moments: the table for a meal for two, the living room for gathering friends, and a work corner. The lighting is all indirect to be used especially at night, as during the day the environment is bathed in natural light and surrounded by the greenery of the planters created in the windows. The furniture, in freijó, was designed by the professional duo, who opted for a palette with tones such as terracotta, blue and green.

(André Nazareth)
Adriana-Esteves-001
07/45 -

Adriana Esteves - Recanto. Who said that the home office cannot also be a corner? Here, it takes on an intimate atmosphere to work, read, study, paint or simply listen to good music while putting your ideas in order. The decoration brings a dialogue between the contemporary furniture and the antique – which appears in the house's original architectural elements such as stained glass windows and portals. An environment designed to welcome that brings the green of the gardens into the house, but here in different tones.

(André Nazareth)
Cate-Poli-003
08/45 -

Caté Poli - Migrant Landscaping. A tropical garden, with the exuberance of the Atlantic Forest and the return of bromeliads. Located around Casa Migrante, in a reserved corner of the vast gardens of Residência Brando Barbosa, the space creates attractive settings that encourage outdoor living. With lots of green foliage and native plants - which perfectly match the fluid architecture of the house - it is an environment that invites visitors to sit back, relax and enjoy nature.

(André Nazareth)
Jorge-Delmas-001
09/45 -

Jorge Delmas - Studio Cubo. The trend of living in increasingly smaller spaces was the inspiration for the studios in our Vila CASACOR. And is there a more appropriate name than Cubo for these remarkable little ones created in metal modules with thermo-acoustic coating specifically for housing? Here, it is precisely practicality that sets the tone. But, without giving up the comfort and warmth brought by the massive presence of wood, the abundant natural lighting and the use of little furniture.

(André Nazareth)
Sergio-Conde-Caldas_Patricia-Andrade-002
10/45 -

Sérgio Conde Caldas Arquitetura - “The Poet’s Song”. A space to disconnect from the outside world and embark on a world of poetry. Surrounded by green gardens, the studio built in one of CMC Modular's residential metallic modules used in our Vila CASACOR prioritizes sustainability with large openings that allow cross ventilation and glass that blocks heat, reducing the use of air conditioning. The decor is contemporary and minimalist with furniture with organic shapes that highlight national works of art.

In the Balance of the Waters, by Bel Lobo and Mariana Travassos - CASACOR Rio 2022 Environment
11/45 -

In Balanço das Águas, by Bel Lobo and Mariana Travassos. One of the great successes of CASACOR Rio 2021, the sensory installation-environment was incorporated into the gardens of Residência Brando Barbosa and continues to enchant and excite our visitors with its flow of sounds and waters that are triggered by the movement of bodies. An invitation to contemplate nature and interact in this little corner of the house amidst the lush greenery of the Atlantic Forest. To stop, appreciate, listen, relax and, of course, sway to the rhythm of the waters...

(André Nazareth)
Gisele-Taranto-001
12/45 -

Gisele Taranto Arquitetura - BamˈBo͞o Bar. One space. Three moments. It is in-person with a bar and a common area in the garden. It is in-person-virtual, with augmented reality artworks that appear in the bamboo grove when QR Codes are activated. And it is virtual with a gallery created exclusively in the Metaverse. The art - curated by Vanda Klabin - is the highlight: the pool becomes an installation by Maritza Caneca; and the Olhar 2022 exhibition features works by Carlos Vergara and young artists from the outskirts of the city presented simultaneously here and in China.

(André Nazareth)
Far Beyond the Garden, by Anna Luiza Rothier- CASACOR Rio 2022
13/45 -

Anna Luiza Rothier - Much More Than the Garden. An open-air retreat, slightly protected from the rain by umbrellas, with plenty of space for informal and relaxed gatherings, which are typical of Rio. With a view of the gardens and (almost) everything that happens outside the house, the terrace blends even more into the natural landscape of the surrounding area through the use of several species of plants and the vertical garden, which takes up the entire main wall. A tropical, light, unpretentious and very Carioca environment.

(André Nazareth)
Pitaya House, by Bernardo Gaudie-Ley and Tania Braida. Interior of CASACOR Rio de Janeiro 2022.
14/45 -

Bernardo Gaudie-Ley and Tania Braida - Casa Pitaya. Can you live in a structure similar to a container measuring just 28m²? Our Vila CASACOR proves yes. Especially when the decoration transforms the space into a cool and cool corner, with a palette of soft tones, such as light pink lacquer and oak from the joinery, and lots of national design furniture and works of art like at Casa Pitaya. There, the natural landscape, which seems to invade the internal environment through the glass walls, is the perfect complement to a house full of charm.

(André Nazareth)
Hall and Lavatory, by Manuela Santos and Paula Scholte - CASACOR Rio 2022
15/45 -

Manuela Santos and Paula Scholte - Hall and Lavabo. Nature framed. In the bathroom, which naturally opens onto the green, it gains even more prominence with the game played by the duo, who remove the mirror from the scene and change the position of the Deca basin, inviting the visitor to contemplate. Installations by young contemporary artists contrast with the classic and original architecture of the house, which is extremely striking in these two environments, with its decorated ceiling, stained glass windows, frames and Portuguese tiles, provoking the look and reflection.

(André Nazareth)
Erick-Figueira-de-Mello-004
16/45 -

Erick Figueira de Mello - Espaço Figueira. What was once the garage and service area of the Brando Barbosa Residence has gained a new vocation with CASACOR Rio: that of a gastronomic complex. And this year, the various spaces (restaurant, wine bar, salad bar and pizzeria) are under the direction of a single architect, who has invested in the Brazilianness of classic and timeless materials: wicker, straw, Brazilian basketwork, faux bamboo, hydraulic tiles. Many of them were created exclusively by the architect for the show and used with harmony and charm.

(André Nazareth)
Music Room, by Tiago Freire - CASACOR Rio 2022
17/45 -

Tiago Freire - Sala Da Música. From its original grandeur to its Brazilian touch. Sala Da Música is a timeless space that celebrates the beauty we have – starting with the work Biblioteca, by Nelson Leirner, which appears for the first time in a decoration exhibition, in homage to the artist who would have turned 90 in 2022. There are also architectural elements such as the muxarabi, which covers the ceiling, highlighting the space's original Baccarat chandelier; and pieces of furniture designed by important names in national design.

(André Nazareth)
Sow-Green-002
18/45 -

Geralda Januário and Paulo César Januário - DECA SPA Garden. A sensory garden with aromatic herbs, fruit trees, flowers and colorful species with a wide variety of greens and textures. The vegetation is very tropical, like the entire forest that already occupies the surroundings of the Brando Barbosa Residence, and brings the beauty of heliconias, philodendrons, alpinias and strelitzias embracing our SPA. A true contemporary tropical garden that further immerses the visitor in the climate of peace and relaxation that the DECA environment naturally provides.

(André Nazareth)
Time of the Soul, by Cristina Bezamat - CASACOR Rio 2022
19/45 -

Cristina Bezamat - Tempo da Alma. The inspiration comes from far away: from the Nordic countries, where the Swedish Lagom philosophy of “not too much, not too little” prevails, and the Danish Hygge style, which prioritizes well-being. The décor features a palette of soft and cozy pastel tones; an incredible selection of works of art and national design pieces with curved and minimalist shapes. The use of fibers such as linen, hemp and jute give a Brazilian touch to this intimate space that proposes a break for rest in contact with nature.

(André Nazareth)
Wine cellar, by Ana Cano Milman and Claudia Infante - Environment of CASACOR Rio de Janeiro 2022
20/45 -

Ana Cano Milman and Claudia Infante - Adega. Time. The original basement of the house, recently discovered and completely renovated for this CASACOR Rio, is the guiding thread of this project which, through the hands of the professional duo, is brought into the 21st century with lightness and elegance. With contemporary and playful furniture and new works of art created especially for the exhibition, Adega da Casa values hospitality and well-being and welcomes visitors with an incredible selection of Porto Di Vino wines, which can be tasted there or taken home.

#Pergolando2022, by Victor Niskier - CASACOR Rio 2022 Environment
21/45 -

#Pergolando2022, by Victor Niskier. The pergolas created for the 2021 show were maintained by the architect who brings new décor to the ticket office and a different space at the exit, with a library, a functional kitchen and a living room. Last year's monochromatic environment gives way to a palette of earthy tones such as browns, greens and terracotta that bring warmth to this large living area where national design pieces and works of art are highlighted. Everything is fully integrated into the bamboo grove, creating a true family refuge.

(André Nazareth)
Patio Living Room - Maurício Nóbrega Architecture. Environment of CASACOR Rio de Janeiro 2022.
22/45 -

Maurício Nóbrega Arquitetura - Estar do Pátio. An informal living room, connected to the house's wine cellar, which was designed to host wine-filled gatherings, a game between friends or simply to rest. The decor features a mix of contemporary furniture, from CasaShopping stores, such as the sofa specially designed by Maria Cândida Machado, and the sophistication of gold contrasting with natural materials such as straw, sisal, wooden trunks and clay vases. A true lightweight, casual and elegant put-together.

(André Nazareth)
Bookstore, by Victor Niskier- CASACOR Rio 2022 Environment
23/45 -

Bookstore, by Victor Niskier. A large reading deck that integrates external and internal areas and houses the exhibition's bookstore, presented here with the air of a family library. The floor looks like wood but is Portinari porcelain tiles for Amoedo Design: sustainable and functional for a high-traffic environment. Highlight is the way the books are displayed: on the wooden Colmeia bookshelf, created by the architect; and also, in a piece of glass, completely hollow, which allows you to see the garden through the books.

(André Nazareth)
Glasses Store, by Sergio Novaes - CASACOR Rio 2022 Environment
24/45 -

Glasses Store, by Sergio Novaes. It could be the dream closet for lovers of colorful and bold glasses frames, but it is our optician, a constant partner at CASACOR Rio, that has won a project with a residential feel and a contemporary touch. The texture of the wood covers a large part of the space. However, the materials used are very different: vinyl on the ceiling and porcelain on the floor. The walls feature what appears to be a single slab of marble, but it is also large-format porcelain by Portinari.

(André Nazareth)
Lucilla-Pessoa-de-Queiroz_Renata-Caiafa-Quintanilha-001
25/45 -

Lucilla Pessoa de Queiroz and Renata Caiafa - Drummond Room. And now... Drummond! The poet who would have turned 120 in 2022 has one of the rooms in our “Hospedaria” dedicated to him, framed by words. The decor is simple, with light fabrics like linen and furniture with straight lines that bring the poet's daily life and his desk into the 21st century, without giving up the romanticism that characterized his time. He appears in the poems printed throughout the room that seem to permeate his dreams, his creative leisure, his life.

(André Nazareth)
Poet's Garden, by Embya Landscaping - CASACOR Rio 2022
26/45 -

Poet's Garden, by Embya Paisagismo. For the poet to breathe, a garden with various shades of green, lots of light and all the tranquility necessary for its creation. The vegetation features broad foliage species typical of the Atlantic Forest, such as large anthuriums and araceas, with their philodendrons and Adam's ribs. But also exotic and equally exuberant plants such as the Leque and Laca palm trees. A sober garden that surrounds Canto do Poeta, reproducing, on a small scale, the forest that can be seen around the Residence.

(André Nazareth)
Vivian-Reimers-018
27/45 -

Vivian Reimers - Café da Casa. Is there a more suitable place for a cup of coffee than the kitchen? Well, that's exactly where we set up the Café, in the heart of the house. The furniture is designed for gatherings, with tables for shared use; and practicality, with Criare carpentry. The wallpaper with a leafy pattern brings greenery to the interior. And, on the outside, a deck extends the Café to the garden, expanding its use. A highlight is the mural by artist Dominique Jardy on the façade, which completes the tropical-Carioca look.

(André Nazareth)
Rafael-Mirza-001
28/45 -

Rafael Mirza - Casa dos Aromas. A space to sharpen the senses. The strong tone of the main bookshelf stimulates vision; the playlist with bossa nova classics invites you to stay; textures provoke touch – which is more than allowed here; just as the essences, displayed like small jewels in glass domes, awaken the sense of smell. All in an open environment to the garden that favors natural elements such as stone, wood and marble and also features a small living room with contemporary and cozy furniture.

(André Nazareth)
Soul Space, by Rodrigo Barbosa - CASACOR Rio 2022
29/45 -

Rodrigo Barbosa - Espaço Soul. Neither classic nor contemporary. Simply carioca. Full of style and, of course, soul! A multifunctional space that brings together the mix and match of the house's classic architecture with organic furniture and the use of many colors and textures, which appear mainly in the tie-dye curtains and maxi rug. A work of art with ropes and threads adds a certain artisanal touch. While Beto Gatti's work, from the Marcas do Tempo series, combines technology and antiques.

(André Nazareth)
Traveler's Suite, by Marilene Galindo - CASACOR Rio 2022
30/45 -

Marilene Galindo - Traveler's Suite. Odaléa's old room gets a new look with a very masculine decor, where shades of gray, black and white predominate. Designed for an executive who travels the world, the space has a practical ambiance with a small work area, a bathtub to relax in and a contemporary décor, with furniture from CasaShopping stores and works of art from its galleries, such as Picasso prints and a sculpture by Osvaldo Gaia. The diversity of artistic styles, in fact, gives the space a touch of affective memory.

(André Nazareth)
Maira-Salgado-Ferreira-Duarte-002
31/45 -

Maira Ferreira and Kaio Duarte Silva - Jardim do BamˈBo͞o Bar. A landscaping intervention with native plants with varied and colorful foliage, such as philodendrons, cordylines, alpinias and heliconias, brings even more personality to the already beautiful Jardim do BamˈBo͞o Bar. The space, which embraces the bar located there, will welcome visitors amidst the green vegetation, which, this year, gains even more layers, transforming into a typical pocket forest. The ideal place for a chat with friends accompanied by delicious drinks.

(André Nazareth)
Designer's Studio, by Camilla Bortolini and Priscilla Dias- CASACOR Rio 2022
32/45 -

Camilla Bortolini and Priscilla Dias - Designer's Studio. A return to the basics, irregular, rough, raw and raw. In this studio, designed to house a designer from Rio de Janeiro, textures dictate the pace of the work. The focus is no longer on digital art, which is so prevalent today, and raw materials return, with their textures, smells and temperatures. They are even on the ceiling, which has been lined with sisal rope from the construction site. A space to sit on the floor, walk, draw freehand, throw yourself on the couch, receive friends and even spend the night after a busy day.

(André Nazareth)
Living from the Source, by Paola Ribeiro - CASACOR Rio 2022
33/45 -

Paola Ribeiro - Living da Fonte. A large living room. An environment designed to host meetings, meals, moments of reading, rest and leisure. Following the color palette of the room, which has a ceiling worked with moldings and moldings, the space features Trilha Verde, by Coral (a cyan tone) in panels, lattices and rugs. But also a lot of white in fabrics, furniture and objects with a contemporary style, such as Naoto Fukasawa's bookshelf. A way to bring lightness to the space and integrate it even more with the Pátio da Fonte, just opposite.

(André Nazareth)
Ana-Lucia-Juca-002
34/45 -

Ana Lúcia Jucá - Suite in the Clouds. Classic and timeless. Inspired by the European architecture of the house, the largest of the internal studios of our “Hospedaria” received a sophisticated decoration that prioritizes comfort, well-being and practicality in the daily lives of guests. The atmosphere is very Rio with a predominance of light tones such as aqua green and a selection of national design furniture and digital works of art. Boiseries in the bedroom and the house's original Portuguese tiles in the bathroom add a classic touch to the space.

(André Nazareth)
Meeting Room and Brando Barbosa Gallery, by Ricardo Melo and Rodrigo Passos - CASACOR Rio 2022
35/45 -

Ricardo Melo and Rodrigo Passos - Meeting Room and Brando Barbosa Gallery. The old Bath Room finds new use here. The marble bathtub that belonged to Empress Teresa Cristina remains, but becomes a support for a collection of opalines. While Odaléa's closet becomes a showcase to display pieces from the Residence's collection. A project with a contemporary look, which uses natural materials such as stone and wood and little furniture, with great respect for the original architecture. On the walls, Coral's Antique Writing color follows the same shade of blue as the house's stained glass windows.

(André Nazareth)
Celso-Rayol_Fernando-Costa-008
36/45 -

Celso Rayol and Fernando Costa - Between the rooms. The old porte-cochère returns to its original purpose as the official entrance for visitors to the house. With two spaces, the external porch and the main hall, it was designed as a transitional space: between past and future; exterior and interior; classic and contemporary. The porticos gain mirrored architectural elements that bring green and newness to the project. The décor features soft and cozy tones, curved shapes and works of art that refer to the centenary of the Modern Art Week of 1922.

(André Nazareth)
Ana-Veras-004
37/45 -

The site, where a spring emerges, has had the path to the spring opened, inviting visitors to live this sensory experience. New species, which attract local fauna (hummingbirds, toucans, marmosets), were incorporated, creating a tropical garden of free forms that embraces Pavilion 22 and has two living sculptures of bromeliads at its entrance, a reinterpretation of Burle Marx's totems.

(André Nazareth)
Fernanda-Medeiros-004
38/45 -

But, with the air of a small family refuge where living, dining, a small home office and a charming pergola are integrated, creating an almost residential environment. (André Nazareth)
Cadence, by Anna Beatriz Fadul- CASACOR Rio de Janeiro Environment 2022
39/45 -

Anna Beatriz Fadul - Cadence. A bathroom full of bossa, dedicated to moments of self-care when you don't even feel time passing. A space designed to promote rest that could even be in a SPA or resort, but that we want to have inside our homes. The decor is, at the same time, elegant and relaxed, with a predominance of blue and contemporary pieces from Deca designed by Jader Almeida, in addition to the use of many plants that bring nature into the house.

And it will be – since, throughout the exhibition, Gafisa promotes several gatherings there. To this end, outdoor furniture was used and a pergola was built, in harmony with the architecture of the house, which made the environment even more welcoming. The gardens also received special treatment by landscaper Anna Luiza Rothier.

(André Nazareth)
Caco-Borges_Carolina-Haubrich-005
42/45 -

Caco Borges and Carolina Haubrich - Aura. An open space... for friends, for nature, for life, which is starting to return to normal, leaving the indoor spaces to enjoy the outdoors – as the people of Rio de Janeiro love so much. Contact with nature is essential here, provided by a space without walls, with lots of glass and natural lighting. The Brentwood furniture is contemporary, light and helps to bring that feeling of well-being inside the home that has become so essential in recent times.

(André Nazareth)
Mario-Santos-012
43/45 -

Mario Costa Santos - Pavilion 22. On the centenary of the Modern Art Week, a very modernist pavilion. The space is fluid, open to the pool and surrounded by the garden. There are two spaces – living room and gourmet kitchen – that are interconnected from a central patio where the Caridade sculpture was kept. The décor features modern furniture classics and a thoughtful selection of art curated by Heloísa Amaral Peixoto. On the facade, the metal structure of CMC Modular was covered by brises that bring the impact of modern architecture.

Fluid spaces, without many divisions, and the use of natural materials bring a casual-chic mood to the project, which also features Deca launches designed by Arthur Casas.

(André Nazareth)
Tempo Room, by Dado Castello Branco. Environment of CASACOR Rio de Janeiro 2022.
45/45 -

Dado Castello Branco - Sala Tempo. If anything has changed with the pandemic, it is the home and the way we see, and desire, its interior spaces. And a family environment that allows coexistence among its residents is at the top of that list. Just like a home office. Because Sala Tempo brings together both, privileging moments of intimacy without giving up its contemporary aesthetic that creates a decoration in which wood and raw fabrics are mixed with nationally designed furniture, antiques and the use of many works of art.

(André Nazareth)
Among the trends of this edition, we highlight the self-care spaces that, previously focused exclusively on hygiene, now have the vocation of bathrooms for decompression and relaxation. It is also worth paying attention to the multifunctional and social rooms , that unfold and take on several functions to meet everyday needs in a small space. Always lush, the gardens of the Brando Barbosa Residence enter the compositions by also appearing on walls, textures, fabrics, materials, furniture and coverings.

Contemporary look

The iconic property that is hosting CASACOR Rio for the second year running has gained a much more contemporary look in this edition. If last year the palatial air of the residence was the highlight, this year it comes with a completely different proposal: instead of a house, a cultural institute . A place dedicated to the arts and meetings, which is always open to the city and its residents. In this way, the old kitchen gave way to a café; while the bedrooms, the home office and the living room The bathrooms from the previous edition became common areas , with emphasis on the guesthouse, designed to welcome guests from the Brando Barbosa Institute. The change has two principles in mind: to present environments that are closer to the public , so that they can better enjoy the courtyards, gardens and entertainment areas; and also to surprise those who are visiting the place for the second time, by revealing new uses for the environments. internal of the house .

Sustainability on the agenda: Vila CASACOR

SPA DECA, por Diego Raposo e Manuela Simas. Ambiente da CASACOR Rio de Janeiro 2022.

Diego Raposo e Manuela Simas - SPA DECA.

In addition to the change in strategy, one of the main new features of this edition is Vila CASACOR : an area with studios between 28 m² and 80 m² that occupies part of the house's gardens with the proposal of receiving resident artists in studios, commercial spaces and houses with methods fast, clean and sustainable construction . The buildings can be dismantled – which will in fact happen after the exhibition – and reassembled in the same format on another site. There are two of them: the metal structures used in João Panaggio 's space; and the metal modules, similar to containers, which already come with thermoacoustic treatment. They were used in the spaces of Mario Costa Santos ; Bernardo Gaudie-Ley and Tania Braida ; Caco Borges and Carolina Haubrich ; Jorge Delmas ; Sérgio Conde Caldas ; Rafael Mirza ; and Diego Raposo and Manuela Simas .

Focus on art and design

Winter Garden, by Adriana Valle and Patricia Carvalho- Environment of CASACOR Rio de Janeiro 2022.

Art is undoubtedly one of the highlights of this edition , with works by great masters in practically every environment. This time, however, the professionals put on a show of creativity – including in the way they presented their work . Innovations are everywhere, for For example, in the space of Gisele Taranto , who exhibits her works in person, in the middle of a bamboo grove, in the form of augmented reality; and also virtually, in a virtual gallery created exclusively in the Metaverse with works of generative art. Holograms, augmented reality, virtual exhibition – the BamˈBo͞o Bar promises to be one of the show's sensations because, in addition to transforming the pink pool into an installation by artist Maritza Caneca , it also features the Olhar 2022 exhibition, which brings together Carlos Vergara and young artists from the outskirts of the city. And there's still much more art. around the house, in environments such as Cristiana and Mariana Mascarenhas , Mario Costa Santos , Paola Ribeiro , Mauricio Nóbrega and Tiago Freire. Furthermore, national design , as is customary, gained great prominence in this edition. In addition to iconic pieces that we often find set in the exhibition, this edition also brings new releases in authorial furniture, such as the furniture designed by the duo Adriana Valle and Patricia Carvalho for their Winter Garden; and also reissues, such as from Bernardo Figueiredo 's bookshelf by Arquivo Contemporâneo, which is featured in Espaço Prosa, by Paula Neder and Coletivo PN+ .

The headquarters of CASACOR Rio de Janeiro in 2021 and 2022, the Palacete Brando Barbosa is next to the Botanical Garden and was built in 1860 as part of the old Chácara da Floresta by the Faro family, important coffee growers. Years later, it was the residence of the important doctor sanitarian Oswaldo Cruz. But its glory days were only experienced from the 1960s onwards , when Jorge Brando Barbosa and his wife Odaléa bought, renovated and expanded the original property using furniture, arches, portals, paintings and sculptures found in antique shops, convents , farmhouses and churches from the interior of Brazil. Many of these architectural details were restored for CASACOR 2021 and, together with modern and technological solutions, created a mix of classic and contemporary that permeated the entire exhibition. Donated in 2015, while she was still alive, by Odaléa Brando Barbosa to the Museum of Sacred Art of São Paulo , the mansion will house, after CASACOR Rio, the Brando Barbosa Institute (IBB) , a meeting place for those interested in art, culture and education.
