Belo Horizonte will host the 28th edition of
CASACOR Minas Gerais between July 15 and September 3, 2023. Under the direction of
Eduardo Faleiro and
Juliana Grillo , the exhibition features
39 environments designed by 53 leading professionals in the segment, as well as
2 installations . “
CASACOR is currently the most important stage for launching products, services and new products in the segment. The show boosts the state’s economy, is linked to large companies, generates jobs and income, and is also part of the cultural calendar of the capital of Minas Gerais, having been held uninterruptedly for 28 years. The numbers prove the success and strength of the brand, which is a reference throughout the Americas,” highlights director Juliana Grillo.
Check out all the 2023 projects below! New address
One of the big attractions this year is the change of location for the exhibition. The chosen address is a
complex made up of three houses from the 1930s and 1940s and part of a contemporary building that is being erected on the site, made possible through a partnership between
F2 Incorporadora e
Construtora and Arthros Incorporadora . The building project was designed by architect
José Eduardo Ferolla , the person being honored in this edition. Ferolla, who passed away last April, lived part of his life in the main mansion, built by his parents to be the family's official residence. While they waited for the construction of
Casa Ferolla , which took several years, to be completed, the family spent some time in the charming
Casa Hera , which was also attached to the exhibition complex. The main mansion combines the
Art Deco style and has clear references to Hispanic-American neocolonial architecture.
Another highlight of this edition is the return of CASACOR Minas to a property with a residential focus. The last edition in a real house was held in 2016, in Pampulha, celebrating the title won by the Pampulha Modern Ensemble as a World Heritage Site. And finally, CASACOR Minas chose to settle in one of the most charming neighborhoods in the capital of Minas Gerais. With mixed use, but maintaining the residential tradition,
Santo Antônio is a neighborhood that concentrates historical and contemporary characteristics that coexist in a very harmonious and respectful way , proving that the dialogue between tradition and modernity should be part of the daily life of cities.
To obtain this property, the management of CASACOR Minas had essential help, which came from a partnership with
Céu-Lar Imóveis . “This action mobilized the team in the research, selection, definition and search for a property aligned with CASACOR’s demands and premises”, highlights the director
Adriana Magalhães . “We needed a residential property located in the center-south region, with generous spaces, in a wooded region and in tune with the proposal for this year”, summarizes
Eduardo Faleiro , executive director of CASACOR Minas.
Body & Address
The theme chosen for the year is
Body & Home – responsible for guiding the cast in the creation of all the environments. The proposal is to delve into the multiple possibilities of interpretation of how the house is an extension of our body, and vice versa.
The creative process was based on four macro pillars:
the home as a place of subjectivity; the home as a maternal place; the home as a place of permanence and the home as a place of knowledge . From these pillars, two premises for living in the home were devised:
treat yourself as you treat the home and treat the home as you treat your own body . Landscaping also takes center stage, both in internal and external areas, showing how the presence of greenery is essential for our well-being.
2023 Highlights
As could not be otherwise in current times, the public will be welcomed at the exhibition with an environment focused on presenting sustainable solutions. Casa Gasmig, by
Paloma Martins , was created to highlight the multiple applications of natural gas in a home. Next up, the Essência Lobby, designed by
José Lourenço and Marina Figueiredo , includes the ticket office,
lobby and Audi space. The space was created to be an ode to architecture, highlighting the beauty of materials in their rawest form.
After passing through Jardim Dulce Ferolla, by
Nãna Guimaraes and Pedro Moreno , created in homage to the matriarch of the family who built and lived in the mansion, the visitor continues towards the palace, having access to the Porch, Entrance Hall and Ferolla Space, spaces designed by the experienced
Lena Pinheiro , who chose to pay homage to the architect. Completing the visual impact of the entrance, the Fireplace and Balcony Room, designed by
Pedro Lázaro , is a space that uniquely synthesizes the proposal of timelessness that establishes a connection between history and contemporaneity.
The Staircase Hall and Dining Room, by
Beatriz Maranhão , are spaces to provoke the senses, highlighting icons of design and art, making the viewer question the intersections between them.
Andrea Buratto decided to invest in a space that goes beyond the ordinary, playing with textures and overlays in her Cave Kitchen. The Gourmet Alinde, by
NB Arquitetura , is a functional kitchen created to host a series of small gatherings during the show.
Estela Netto chose to celebrate the 20th anniversary of her first project with the Tributo aos 20 complex, which brings together a gourmet space, swimming pool, lounge and a large wine cellar. All of this, surrounded by the exuberance of the tropical landscaping present in Jardim ARUM, by
Flávia D'urso . The property's original bathrooms were redesigned by
Isabela Bethônico in partnership with
Studio Tertúlia . The result is surprising and shows that a good dose of fun looks good in any environment.
(Studio Tertúlia/CASACOR)
The Master Suite and Closet, by
Tânia Salles , is one of those rooms designed for those who don't want to get out of bed on the weekends. The connection with spirituality is portrayed in the Capela das Folhas, a project by
Studio 126 Arquitetura ,
Evandro Melato and Pabrício Amaral . The Casa Ferolla Apartment, designed by architect
Gislene Lopes , features contemporary lines, with organic shapes inspired by everyday details. The idea is that visitors can see one of the apartment models in the Casa Ferolla building, currently under construction.
The Apartment's Living Room and Washroom, by
Renata Machado and André Magalhães, is a space where technology favors the practicality and well-being of users.
Gastronomy
As in previous years, gastronomy continues to be one of the highlights of the show. The partnership with several companies and brands in the food and beverage segment attracts a large audience interested in participating in the gastronomic experiences. Among the partners in the segment that will be present at this edition, highlights include
Krug Bier, Rex Bibendi/Zahil, Supernosso, Água Mineral Ingá and Felicitea . The Varanda Café Project, by
Adriana Gouveia , houses the
Uluru Café operation. The project surprises by subverting the order of materials: a tree in a metal structure was covered with plants and vegetation and gained a brick counter. The idea was to create an ideal space for
brunch or that break during the visit. Made possible through a partnership with Sebrae Minas,
Espaço Origem Minas is back and is once again designed by architect
Cynthia Silva . The project has been present at CASACOR Minas for 5 years and is aimed at showcasing the work of small producers and artisans from Minas Gerais. Among the products that can be found are cheeses, specialty coffees, jams, appetizers and other artisanal items.
The design of the space was based on the façade of the Hera house, with Art Deco architecture from the 1940s. The project emerged as a harmonious extension of this architecture, bringing a retrofit proposal to the annex. The floor and walls are made of rustic Minas Gerais granite from the São João Del Rei region, and the countertops, also made of granite, originated in Minas Gerais and named Café Cerrado, due to the visual similarity with coffee beans. The light fixtures were also designed by the architect and were developed by the artisan from Carangola (MG), Simone Oliveira.
Betânia Nascimento is back on the show after her debut last year. This time she is responsible for the project of the O Chef e o Cabra Restaurant, which will once again be run by one of the most awarded chefs in the country,
Onildo Rocha from Paraíba, who conceived the project in partnership with the designer and entrepreneur,
Gustavo Greco , a long-time partner of CASACOR Minas. This year's Bar will be operated by Jangalito and was designed by architect
Cris Capanema . The idea was to create a sophisticated yet casual space, in the form of an open-air lounge. Wine lovers should visit and enjoy Vila do Vinho, a space by
Silvia Carvalho , who specializes in the creation and development of wine cellars and who, this time, invested in the design of a space focused on enjoying the drink.
Urban kindness
Considered one of the oldest neighborhoods in the capital of Minas Gerais, Santo Antônio is famous for its privileged location, tree-lined streets and its cultural effervescence, bringing together a series of bars, restaurants, establishments and characters that are part of the city's history. It was one of the first neighborhoods outside the perimeter of Avenida do Contorno. And it is precisely because it is one of the oldest neighborhoods in the city that Santo Antônio brings together a very balanced mix of history and progress. All of these positive characteristics had a direct impact on the concept of this edition of the exhibition. Because of this, one of CASACOR Minas' proposals is to invite visitors to enjoy the other attractions in the neighborhood, which brings together exponents from the most diverse areas, such as design, architecture, culture, gastronomy, art, fashion, among others. The idea is that when visiting the exhibition, the public can also walk around the neighborhood and take the opportunity to explore everything it has to offer.
