Gaspar + Dantas Associated Architects - DECA Senses. CASACOR Bahia 2024 Project. (Gabriela Daltro)
A space of communion with water : this is the concept of Sentidos Deca , a project signed by Carol Gaspar and Bento Dantas for the 30th edition of CASACOR Bahia , which runs until November 6th. Inspired by Eastern bathrooms, used for revitalizing rituals, the environment promotes a relaxing experience within an area of 71m².
In the reinterpretation of partners Carol Gaspar and Dantas Bento, oriental architecture is combined with the sophistication of pure lines and simple formalism. References to the idea of origin appear in the architectural elements of the colonial period, such as the arches seen in the large windows, tiles, represented by the cladding Verona BE HARD, by Portinari .

Three elements that connect and define their spaces and functions form the architectural solution of the project. Firstly, a large floating grandstand marks the entrance, with a view of the Salvador sea. To the right, a bedroom with an intimate aesthetic, with an integrated bed and closet. This space establishes a counterpoint to a spacious bathroom area, in which water shapes the pleasurable experience through showers, a bathtub and a private toilet area.

“When we look at ancestry, a theme proposed by CASACOR this year, we see that moments of relaxation are intrinsic to the habits of different peoples for millennia. This practice is related to well-being but, in ancient bathrooms and even today, it is also related to the sociability provided by the space . Reevaluating how environments can provide this through design is necessary in the times we live in. And counting on the innovations that emerge makes it easier to find solutions that really have a positive impact” , highlights Carol Gaspar .

The project's scent of Brazilianness comes from the choice of decorative pieces designed essentially by Bahian artists, contributing to the creation of the warmth that only Bahia has. The view of the sea completes the personality of the project, which emphasizes the song emitted by the waters, their movement and aesthetics.
