Colorful , multicultural and permeated by regional references and trends from the world of interior design,
CASACOR Bahia celebrates its thirtieth edition at the emblematic
Bahia Othon Palace hotel, which turns 50 this year. In addition to an incredible view of the Salvador sea, the exhibition location offers a backdrop that delights the eyes of visitors, with a structure worthy of an
architectural icon . The
masterplan , developed by architect Nildo José, preserved important elements of the
original plan , such as the entrance hall, maintaining the foyer, the
Brennand ceramic floor and the gallery arches. With so many interesting elements together, the result could not be different, with environments that exude life and originality. Below, check out a selection of interesting ideas that break the cliché.
1. Impactful entry
(Gabriela Daltro / CASACOR)
Designed by architect
Gregory Copello , the CASACOR Bahia lobby welcomes visitors with vibrant decor. It is an inspiring, integrated environment of almost 300 m² that displays
earthy colors and an interesting
mix of prints . A curious fact is that the architect preserved the original floor of the Bahia Othon Palace, which bears the signature of
Francisco Brennand and was created especially for the hotel. Starting from the historic floor, Gregory developed the entire decoration of the space.
2. Colors and art
(Gabriela Daltro / CASACOR)
A splendid
gradient of blues and greens colors the original arches of the hotel's architecture in the space where the gallery designed by architect
Nat Coelho was installed. It is the perfect setting to receive the works of art selected by the professional. To demonstrate how the power of our culture lies in cultural diversity and the harmony of the mix, there is plurality among the artists, who bring together names such as Mario Vasconcelos, Annia Rizia, Allan Silva and Almir Lemos, representing the power of Afro Diasporic culture. Iuri Sarmento evokes the Baroque and his Portuguese
ancestry with the reinterpretation of porcelain and Bruna Gidi brings the narrative of human relationships. Jorge Amaro shows his colorful bamboos and Alexandre Feliciano paints Yemanjá.
3. Free from trends
(Gabriela Daltro / CASACOR)
Entering the environment designed by architect
Mariana Leão is like being welcomed into a real home, even within a decoration exhibition. The cozy and, at the same time, sophisticated atmosphere was achieved through the use of elements that
do not follow trends , but are timeless. An example of this is the
glass present in some pieces of furniture, different
shapes ,
colors and
textures , as well as
prints and
intense colors , which had been overshadowed by minimalism. In this environment,
fabrics are used as an integral part of the architecture, covering walls and ceilings, promoting an interesting fusion between materials. For the choice of furniture, the inspiration came from the desire for
flexibility and
timelessness , with loose pieces that adapt to any situation, allowing for a dynamic and spontaneous composition.
4. Culture and decoration
(Gabriela Daltro / CASACOR)
Inspired by the culture of his homeland, architect
Vitor Martins created a studio with many references to
Ilê Ayê —
the first Afro block in Brazil, consolidated as one of the most important cultural expressions of the Salvador Carnival. The room's color palette , mainly in red, yellow and black, alludes to the block's coat of arms, as do the African-style prints. An interesting detail is that these elements were inserted into the decoration in a harmonious way, which resulted in an environment full of personality, but with a soft atmosphere. 5. Look up
(Gabriela Daltro / CASACOR)
Caroline Gomes and Renan Saturnino delved into their family origins to design this bathroom, which has an oasis atmosphere. The highlight of the space is the sisal ropes , which make up a powerful installation on the ceiling, as well as showing how it is possible to transform a simple raw material into an element of sophistication and originality. Another strong feature of the space are the velvety textured finishes, which provide a pleasant touch experience for visitors. 6. Connection with the landscape
(Gabriela Daltro / CASACOR)
Nature is omnipresent in the 96 m 2 bungalow, designed by architect Carol Barreto , who opted for many openings and a palette in shades of terracotta , beige and turquoise blue to create a connection with the surrounding landscape. Another interesting feature is that the professional integrated biophilic design into the project using natural materials, such as clay , represented by clay coatings, and natural stone , by hijau stone. Palm oil is the theme that guides the entire project of this kitchen created by the architects at
Vorá Arquitetura , which celebrates the delicious Bahian cuisine. Right at the entrance to the space, visitors are surprised by a glass structure that supports
palm oil bottles , similar to the wines stored in a
cellar . The
light look continues to the interior of the space, where the decoration is based on
warm colors , highlighting regional pieces and works of art by Bahian artists. With a warm atmosphere, this kitchen was designed with the aim of being a living and therefore welcoming environment.
8. Environment designed to welcome
(Tarso Figueira / CASACOR)
The gray color takes over the environment designed by architect
Marlon Gama and was used in different types of textures — from fabrics and veneers that cover the joinery to the stone that makes up the countertop and
backsplash . The result is a timeless and elegant composition, ideal for hosting the robust art collection that the professional displays in his project. Composed of
a living room and
gourmet area , the integrated space has fluid circulation designed for fun and practical use.
Organic shapes guide the decoration, full of objects and accessories that make the space lively and feel like a real home. Furthermore, the composition of
three round dining tables , with different heights, which increases the number of seats while maintaining a relaxed atmosphere, stands out.
9. Space reserved for creativity
(Tarso Figueira / CASACOR)
The connection between art and design is the guiding thread of the project signed by interior designer
Carla Matos . The professional's objective was to create a comfortable, cozy and visually light environment, inspired by the jurist and artist Amanda Jacobina. Therefore, the choice was for a
multifunctional space, ideal for production, inspiration and relaxation. This atmosphere was achieved through the use of materials with
varied textures , such as
wood and natural
stones , as well as furniture with curved shapes. Also notice the bar carved in stone, which also houses a small tree. The walls also gained prominence with the use of textures with a satin effect.
10. Perfect balance
Architect
Paulo Andrade brought his roots and
memories from the interior of Bahia to create an environment that mixes
minimalism and
regionalities . Upon entering this bathroom, it is immediately possible to identify the tribute that the professional pays to the countryside through coverings and objects. At the same time, these elements interact with contemporary architecture, creating a balance between organic shapes and straight lines. The pleasant feeling of comfort arises precisely from this harmony, complemented by indirect lighting and a neutral color palette.
11. History, art and spirituality
(Gabriela Daltro / CASACOR)
Designed by architect
João Gabriel , this bathroom was designed in honor of
Gilberto Gil and contemplates the history and music of the Bahian singer and composer. Inspired by the song
Baba Alapalá , the environment connects visitors with the past, represented by
clay . Therefore, the most striking feature of the environment is a reddish terracotta tone, present on several surfaces. Everything evokes clay, from sculptures to Brazilian craft objects. Right in the hall, Gabriel presents an image of Gilberto Gil dressed as
an ancestor , next to a tree that symbolizes his deep family roots. Excerpts of
songs are scattered throughout the space and the trilogy of albums
Refazenda ,
Refavela and
Realce are displayed in tables, composing a tribute to the artist's work. On the side
wall , attention is drawn to an installation with
clay sculptures created by artist Selma Calheira.
12. Hugging room
Architect
Nath Veloso was inspired by her own family to create a cozy living room full of
memories . According to the professional, her main idea was to develop a project that would make the most of family relationships and function as a nest of affection. Many details stand out, including the
flock of birds , which symbolizes children who fly, but always have their parents' home to return to, and the
wine cellar made of leather by a local craftsman. Furthermore, the palette of
earthy tones brings a connection with the earth, evoking belonging and ancestry. The contemporary style predominates in the decor, with timeless
shapes and materials, such as the natural wood floor and door, which has been revitalized, both original to the construction dating back to 1975.
