In her work,
Mariana Maisonnave advocates an architecture with soul, capable of transmuting feelings, providing a sense of welcome and tranquility. In 2023, when she reaches her fourth participation in
CASACOR Santa Catarina , the architect brings a
reflection on the marks of living and the value of history and its memories, honoring her past participations and beckoning her own future.
With
Casa [C]Alma , Mari, who grew up in a house with her parents in the João Paulo neighborhood – the same neighborhood where the 2023 exhibition is based –, brings a little of her
affective memory and identification with the neighborhood , resulting in a project that embraces nature and shows its essence.
Keeping the building's original purpose, the former Maria do Mar Hotel, the place where Casa [C]Alma is now located, used to be the caretaker's house. On the seafront, the environment was
radically transformed in just 40 days , bringing a new version of what already existed: the replacement and expansion of frames, the creation of a front deck, a pergola that makes a mark and screens that divide the space with nautical ropes bring a
new language to the house , showing the power of architecture.
The C [ALMA] House, through the choice of natural textures and
total integration with the external environment , brings the architect's identity to a
160 m² space – a complete house; light, but with personality, created to provide encounters and moments of good life.
This year, Mariana plays with
clippings of her spaces from previous years, bringing back memories for those who already follow her work . In the living room integrated with the kitchen, she recalls the wooden portico, created in 2021 for the
Respiro space, while in the closet she brings back Cabilight, the coat rack designed by Waldir Junior, used in her
Abraço suite , in 2022.
In the dining area, a table designed by the architect in collaboration with Residual, with a
sculptural base made from a tree trunk and an
organic resin top , takes away the rigidity of the straight lines of the island next door. On the side of the table, an ultra-compact shelf holds a composition of candles, highlighted by the indirect lighting in the background.
In the bedroom, the C[ALMA] bed, designed by the architect for Reveev, shows its identity through curved lines that embrace the space. The composition of the bed, made of upholstery and natural veneer, shows that an asymmetrical and balanced piece is possible, where the two sides complement each other. The mix of materials in its headboard, the suspended and illuminated bed base, and the curved drawer fixed to the wooden panel and its sides set it apart and make it an exclusive piece.
