Human beings have always been in search of shelter : a home that could meet their physical demands, accommodate their history and routine, as well as provide rest and disconnection from the outside world. And in this period that humanity is going through, the meaning of living was questioned and rethought: what are the attributes that, in fact, transform our home into a refuge? It is through this inner reflection that architect Gustavo Martins , head of the office that bears his name, marks his presence at the highly anticipated CASACOR São Paulo 2021. The studio entitled Casa Å LEVE (to live, in Norwegian) carries out an immersion in the Scandinavian décor , highlighting the attributes that make up the homes of the population living in the Northern region of Europe, in countries such as Norway, Denmark, Finland and Sweden.

“Although we live in a Brazilian climate with distinct particularities, the interpretation of the Scandinavian essence is a very interesting proposal to respond to the new sense of reconnection with the home that we seek here”, reveals Gustavo Martins. With an area of 118m², the studio highlights the composition of integrated spaces in a mix of bedroom, bathroom, living room, kitchen, dining room and garden that come together through a decoration that enchants not only because of its appearance, but also because of the sensations aroused in each environment.

In the exhibition, the architect manages to translate the fundamentals of Nordic décor through its main components, such as lightness and practicality that promote a minimalist look , but which, in harmony, express comfort and an intimate atmosphere . By emphasizing the neutrality of colors , essential in this style, Gustavo worked with shades of gray and beige, as well as light wood, one of the materials that star in the project. Stone is another element that is part of the project and was represented by the Italian basalt that covers the floor and countertop and kitchen area.

Natural light is also a highly valued resource in Scandinavian homes. That’s why we created large openings in the living area to make the most of the light,” he emphasizes. In addition, the lighting design stands out due to the bold design of the light fixtures. that were arranged. In a look that mixes the classic with the contemporary, a selection of objects is combined throughout the studio.

As for furniture, the lower heights highlight a very distinct feature of Scandinavian homes, as do the rustic features that enhance the strong design of the pieces. In the search to enhance the contemporary, a curation of national and international artists and designers are represented in every corner of the house through furniture and decorative objects.
