Designed by architect
Bruno Moraes , from BMA Studio, for the
37th CASACOR São Paulo , the
Acalanto e Encontros space is a true portal to the soul and roots of Brazil. Inspired by the intersection of history, culture and design, Moraes proposes an experience that transcends time, envisioning a
hopeful future for national architecture.
Bruno Moraes, unafraid of a challenge, intertwines past, present and future in a sustainable architectural narrative, using recycled materials and eco-friendly techniques . “I try to recognize our origins in the details and reinterpret them within a current reading, as they will always be with us as part of our identity. I also understand that the formation of our ancestry is based on the present, which, at the same time, allows us to glimpse the future we wish to establish”, says the professional, who is participating in CASACOR for the second time. In this edition, Bruno Moraes created a spacious 59 m² living room to welcome visitors to the exhibition. Modular sofas with organic shapes facilitate circulation, while earthy and off-white tones add warmth and naturalness. The curved walls are reminiscent of Art Nouveau, a movement that influenced Modernism and Futurism by exploring dynamic and innovative forms. (Carolina Mossin/CASACOR)
The ceiling, with its historic ribbed slab structure from Conjunto Nacional, was covered in plaster to allow the application of the green color without compromising its historic integrity. In the heart of the space, a rug made from scraps of different fabrics impresses with its appearance and history. Created by BMA Studio, the piece transformed sound waves from an indigenous lullaby into visual geometric shapes. The decor is a fusion of the old and the contemporary , with custom furniture and pieces by national designers such as Sergio Rodrigues and Roberta Banqueri. Paintings by photographer Rogério Fernandes and works by Kiolo and Mário Cravo reinforce the authenticity of the space and its appeal to art . As a tribute to his ancestry, Bruno Moraes included personal objects, such as old radios, cameras and recorders, which evoke family memories. (Carolina Mossin/CASACOR)
The commitment to sustainability is evident. Recycled materials and clean construction techniques, such as drywall and LED lighting, were widely used. The wooden floor preserves the original listed floor and will be reused after the exhibition, as will the Blue Deep stone, which will be reinterpreted in another project. (Guilherme Pucci/CASACOR)
“Acalanto e Encontros” is a reflection on environmental awareness and the search for a sustainable future , promoting balance between human beings and nature. “Alignment with the environment is a constant concern in my projects and is part of the legacy I am leaving behind,” concludes Bruno Moraes.
