The couple who loves to host acquired a comfortable house in Lago Sul, Brasília, built in the late 1990s by a French diplomat. Despite the spaciousness and straight-line architecture, the original design did not pay special attention to the gourmet
area and the
kitchen, considered the heart of the house by the resident. To update the area of 240 m², architect
Mariana Leal, from the firm
Morada 31.12 and cast of
CASACOR Brasília, proposed integrating the kitchen with the gourmet area, with unusual cabinetry in orange.

"One desire of the residents was to have breakfast admiring the pool and the
garden. For this, we replaced the lattice of the breakfast nook with a larger and lower model, with a bench designed along its length," she says.

There, it is possible to sit and chat, enjoy the silence or smell the rosemary planted in the planter of the outdoor area that, in addition to beautifying, also houses small seedlings of edible plants and spices.

In the kitchen,
to match the burnt cement walls, the slate covers the front of the countertops. "Slate has thermal properties and easy maintenance. The same stone was applied in the gourmet area, bringing unity to the project," explains the architect.

The planned cabinetry with slats enters both spaces. In the kitchen, it mimics the cupboard doors, a pillar, and the access doors to the house and the service area.

The outdoor area also received a suspended metal pergola anchored to the facade by steel cables and corten steel finish, designed to expand the living space, which the couple loves to use as a
fireplace.

A lighted suspended deck receives the lounge chairs and on the opposite side, a slatted concrete panel received a 5 m long bench with a planter, where cacti serve as a backdrop for the outdoor shower. A special highlight was the porcelain tile used throughout the outdoor and indoor areas. The covering resembles the Milanese stones Ceppo di Gré, adding sophistication and timelessness to the project.
