Naturalness:
Consuelo Jorge 's space for the 33rd edition of
CASACOR São Paulo could not be described in any other way. All the elements of the space speak to the same tune of privileging what refers to nature, having been conceived in materials that can be reused at the end of the exhibition. “We used national stones, bamboo fibers and laminates as coverings and accessories: in addition to providing a welcoming touch, these items were chosen based on the criteria of having the least impact on nature,” says the architect.
The 101 m² space houses a bedroom, living room and bathroom in integrated spaces. In a sophisticated and warm atmosphere, Consuelo sought to revive the concept of an urban refuge, bringing people closer to nature. The bed represents refuge. On a platform in the center, it is made up of a fabric canopy, which reinforces the feeling of welcome.
Through the use of natural materials, such as bamboo wood and stone, the naturalness maintains its timelessness, even when combined with modern coverings. Thus, a contemporary space was created, with pure and enveloping forms, which contrast with the fast pace of the city and reinforce the feeling of closeness to nature.
The choice of coverings prioritized warm and earthy tones, in contrast with light gray as a neutral backdrop. The architecture was entirely planned to provide the occupant with a feeling of welcome, especially through the sloping bamboo wood ceiling, which warms the environment and creates a different aesthetic perception.
Visitors are greeted by photographer Leopoldo Plentz’s extraordinary artwork, entitled Exception to the Rule, which is prominently displayed at the head of the dining table. The kitchen wall is covered in marble, followed by a mirror at the top, which reflects the light, giving depth to the room and highlighting the architecture of the space.
The wallpaper that refers to concrete, as well as the carpets in natural fibers, national stones, linen fabrics, porcelain and clay vases, dialogue harmoniously with each other and with the architecture, thus creating an intimate space that serves as support and protection.
