In 9 m², the children's room gets a décor inspired by the forest with boho touches.

The architect Amanda Miranda needed to update her daughter Bibi's (Ana Beatriz) 9 m² room to meet the needs of the 7-year-old girl. "The old configuration lost its meaning. I missed custom cabinetry designed for her to get ready, study, and occasionally host a friend, as well as solutions to store toys in a more organized way, keeping everything visible, and niches near the bed to accommodate books,” she explains. Bibi wanted, in addition to a TV in the room, for the new decor to be inspired by a forest with animals. That's why Amanda chose aearth-toned wallpaper (featuring foliage patterns populated with jaguars, monkeys, and toucans) and completed the upper part of the walls with another paper, printed with jaguar spots, in more pinkish tones. "My daughter loves pink and, besides that, she already had a pink headboard that we wanted to reuse," says Amanda. The concept of the project was, therefore, to create a forest with a savanna vibe, filled with wilder animals, and mix it with cabinetry finished with natural oak leaf to bring a sense of coziness, along with yellow lacquer to warm up the space. Although contemporary style predominates in the decor, the architect added boho touches through fiber elements, such as rattan chairs and the bed's headboard.

The room was divided into an area for getting ready at the entrance (with a dressing table on one side and wardrobe on the other), followed by a study area with a spacious desk that accommodates up to two people, and at the back, under the window, a sleeping area with an extra mattress underneath. "This layout with furniture and cabinetry pushed against the walls was intentional to free up more space for play in the center of the room,” justifies the architect. "In fact, we replaced the entrance door with a sliding model to avoid obstacles to accessing the wardrobe and the dressing table,” she adds. "The biggest challenge of this project was to meet Bibi's extensive needs within a compact space of only 9 m² and to manage to execute everything in one month,” concludes architect Amanda Miranda.
