Affectionate decoration with pet space defines the environment of CASACOR SC

In this edition of CASACOR Santa Catarina , architect Matheus Xavier brought a unique and personal perspective to the theme “ As a gift, the now ”. By exploring the concept of temporality and affective decoration, Matheus brought to life the space O Resgate das Memórias Afetivas (The Rescue of Affective Memories ), which reflects an intimate connection with his family history, using his memories as the central point of his proposal. The master bedroom is a true invitation to relax, with neutral tones and light wood that envelop the décor, bringing a more welcoming feel. The upholstered headboard and open closet with soft lighting make the space functional without losing elegance. Plants and ceramic objects add a touch of life and personality. In the guest suite , which can be transformed into a charming home office , Matheus brought to light the symbolism of important moments from his childhood. One of the highlights of this space is the typewriter , which is not just a decorative object, but an emotional link to the past. “The typewriter reminds me of stories with my father. I remember he had a typewriter at home and at work. And I loved playing with the typewriter,” says the architect. In addition to these personal touches , many of the decorative pieces used in the rooms, such as the master suite and home office, belong to the architect's own collection. These are objects that not only decorate the spaces, but also convey stories and experiences, reinforcing the idea that the present is shaped by the layers of memories we carry . In the pet-friendly suite , Matheus once again draws on his memories to create a space that is not only geared towards pets, but that carries a significant emotional connection. The design of the doghouse , with a fence around it, was inspired by the old houses in the neighborhood. “I wanted to bring this memory of welcome to the project, which is reflected in the care for pets, but which at the same time carries childhood memories ,” explains Matheus.

Matheus Xavier’s proposal for this year’s CASACOR is an invitation to reflect on how personal memories can be meaningfully incorporated into interior design. He makes us think about time, family and our relationship with the place we inhabit, always with a sensitive eye and intimate connection to its past.
