Indigenous Chef's Refuge
CASACOR Ribeirao PretoDo you know what biophilia is? Its concept is clear: connecting people to nature to promote physical and emotional well-being. It was based on this concept that Thaís Alves created this delightful retreat, which was inspired by a very special character: Kalymaracaya, from the Terena people, one of the first indigenous chefs recognized in Brazil. “I wanted someone who was truly connected to nature. So I created a retreat for her, a little piece of her old home, so she could have contact with her ‘land’ in the middle of the big city”. To create the new home, Thaís used clay brick cladding and the Velvet (Coral) texture in the Greek culture color, creating a welcoming atmosphere. Most of the objects were made by artisans – the hammock woven with carnauba fiber is one of the stars of the space, as is the macramé by Anne Twiggy (Namacrê Design), which dominates the room. “In addition to providing tranquility, biophilic design can reduce stress, increase productivity and creativity, among other benefits for those who live in or frequent these spaces.”
