Burle Marx Garden

CASACOR Minas Gerais

Since the 2019 edition of CASACOR Minas, also held at Palácio das Mangabeiras, landscaper Nãna Guimarães has faced an enormous challenge: restoring the gardens on the land where it is located. Designed by Roberto Burle Marx for the building inaugurated in 1955, they bring the essence of the master, who promoted the appreciation of Brazilian flora to be admired and used, plants that, before him, were hardly found in gardens and squares in the country. The highlight of Nãna's work concerns a characteristic present in all of the landscaper's projects: the impeccable organization of the plants, which makes it possible to see the beauty of each one with precision and respect. Seen from above, Roberto Burle Marx's landscaping projects resemble many paintings, prints and even tapestries. This is due to the broad training and diverse interests he had and even the way he approached landscaping. “A garden is made of light and sounds. Plants are supporting players.”
