CASACOR Minas Gerais

The design of this space was inspired by sustainability in several situations. The first thing that immediately catches your eye when you look at it is the walls made from construction waste, to which CASACOR Minas' own drywall waste was added. The covering was done by women from the Arquitetura na Periferia and Bioarquitetar projects, who collected different shades of earth from landfills. These earthy colors are noticeable in the horizontal lines of the walls with a rustic feel. The structure and roof are all made of aluminum, a material that can be reused, and the idea is to create a living space that has the warmth of texture and, at the same time, is imbued with a reconnection with people's heritage, bringing the earth as a strong element. The mirrored effect that appears in a section of the facade aims to blend the building with the greenery of the surroundings. The Serra do Curral mineral, which is in the background, was remembered in Zanine's sculpture bench, a unique piece on the open walkway, made of porcelain tiles that recall the dirt floor. The gardens feature, on one side, two jabuticaba trees, a reference to the backyards of Minas Gerais, and, on the other side, a rock garden with Portuguese and moraine stones, in a minimalist and organic design. With no entrance or exit door, the idea was to create a fluid, ventilated space, incorporating the detail of walls that do not touch the ceiling. The entrances are tapered to provide a feeling of welcome as soon as the outdoor area is crossed. In the background, a pergola with a Cartesian plane opens up to the view.
